Wonder Project is venturing into stand-up comedy for the first time, launching a slate of six original specials weekly on Prime Video beginning July 2.
“At Wonder Project, we’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to move people — and nothing moves people quite like laughter,” said Ani Haftvani, SVP, Programming and Content Acquisitions at Wonder Project. “We are thrilled to bring stand-up comedy into the Wonder Project family with six incredible specials that represent the best of this art form. This is just the beginning of what we have planned for comedy.”
The collection, titled WONDER PRESENTS: THE STAND-UPS, features six comedians — Caroline Rhea, K. Trevor Wilson, Sterling Scott, Ola Dada, Zabrina Douglas and Erica Sigurdson — each headlining a family-friendly standalone special. The series comes from New Metric Media, the Toronto-based, award-winning comedy studio behind the cult hit LETTERKENNY and its spinoff SHORESY.
Scott kicks off the lineup July 2 with GOOD DAYS, BETTER NIGHTS, a set that mixes fatherhood, aging, race and the chaos of chasing dreams. The following week, Dada takes the stage with HUSBAND ON PROBATION, which includes the fairly remarkable origin story of meeting his wife on Instagram — “in Jesus’ name,” as he puts it.
Douglas follows July 16 with CHOOSE YOUR MEDICINE, weaving together motherhood, nursing and Caribbean family life in a set built around the comedy of juggling what life actually throws at you. LETTERKENNY’s Wilson steps up July 23 with TOO AWESOME, TOO FAST, turning diabetes, sleep apnea and the general indignities of getting older into the kind of material that earns laughs precisely because it’s true.

Sigurdson closes out July on the 30th with DIARY OF THE TRAVELING PANTSUIT, a sharp, self-deprecating set on marriage, body image and the small embarrassments most people pretend didn’t happen. The series wraps Augt. 6 with SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH and PHINEAS AND FERB alum Caroline Rhea in A LABOR OF LOVE — a warm, witty look at motherhood that Rhea has apparently been living material for years.
“Comedy has the power to unite, inspire and build community through shared experiences,” said Mark Montefiore, CEO & Executive Producer at New Metric Media. “We are excited that Wonder Project put their faith into stand-up.”
The double meaning in that last line lands cleanly. Wonder Project — the faith-and-values studio behind HOUSE OF DAVID and THE OLD STORIES: MOSES — has built its brand on content that takes belief seriously and takes its audience seriously. As Movieguide® has covered since the studio’s early days, it’s a platform dedicated to “telling courageous stories that inspire hope and restore faith in things worth believing in.” Family-friendly stand-up that deals honestly with the stuff of real life — parenting, marriage, aging, community — fits that mission more naturally than it might first appear.
Each comedian serves as executive producer and writer of their own special. Darrell Faria directs across all six. Haftvani and Ashley Hanna are executive producers for Wonder Project; Montefiore executive produces for New Metric Media.
WONDER PRESENTS: THE STAND-UPS streams Thursdays through Aug. 6 exclusively on Wonder Project via Prime Video. Subscriptions run $8.99/month or $89.99/year after a 7-day free trial at amazon.com/subscription/wonderproject.
