Millie Bobby Brown ‘Prayed Every Night’ for Adopted Daughter

STRANGER THINGS star Millie Bobby Brown is opening up about her adoption journey and encouraging other parents seeking adoption not to lose hope.

“My husband and I took a lot of time to focus on what that story and what that journey looks like, and then we embarked on it,” Brown said of the beginning of the adoption process while appearing on the “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. “It’s multifaceted, but it was always part of my journey.”

The actress stressed that “every journey looks different” for prospective adoptive parents.

“I just would always encourage you to understand every journey is different,” she said. “Don’t compare yourself to others, don’t compare yourself to statistics, and don’t compare yourself to other families…your baby is out there and you’ll find each other.”

Brown shared that she “prayed every night” for her child, adding, “I was just very, very grateful that our journey and our baby was out there and we found each other.”

Brown and her husband Jake Bongiovi announced they had adopted a baby girl in 2025, writing on Instagram, “We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy. And then there were 3.”

The actress has been careful about sharing information about her daughter, blocking her face in photos and choosing not to share her name. However, Brown has spoken about the joy that motherhood has brought her.

“It’s been a beautiful, amazing journey — she’s taught us so much already,” she told British Vogue. “Perspective is a huge thing. The smaller things in life are so much more precious. Our days are filled with lots of cuddles and laughter and love. It’s just endless joy.”

In a video for UNICEF, Brown shared, “I just try to learn as much as I can and feed it into her life, so that she knows nothing other than girls supporting girls, women succeeding, women achieving their dreams and living in a world and building a world for her — that isn’t unrealistic but it sets a standard for her to know that she shouldn’t settle for anything less.”

She also said that no one prepared for the overwhelming love she would feel for her daughter.

“People say they love their children. I don’t understand how that much happens in my heart. I don’t know how the feeling is so overwhelming,” Brown said. “It’s just incomprehensible.”

Brown’s words are encouraging to other prospective parents who are on their adoption journeys, reminding them not to give up hope.
