Country singer Jessie James Decker shared her secret to keeping the spark alive in her marriage to husband, Eric.

“The best piece of advice that I’ve learned that actually works in real life is to keep flirting,” she told Fox News. “You have to keep things playful. You’ve gotta keep that young love spirit, and we just naturally do. You gotta be silly.”

The couple has been married for 13 years, and Jessie said she is “still madly in love with” her husband, adding, “I still look at him with the same goo goo gaga eyes as I did from the beginning. He’s my best friend, and we’re still more in love than ever, and I’m so grateful for that. Yeah, early on they tell you, ‘oh, that’ll fade,’ and it hasn’t faded.”

In an interview with Fox News last year, the Deckers explained that much of their marriage’s success also comes down to shared values.

“Obviously, we’re rooted in our value system where we have four kids,” Eric said. “We do love the community we raise our kids in [in Nashville]. We take time to just be home and, in a sense, be with our family, that grounds us.”

Jessie added, “I think we just view the world the same way. You know, we had a strong foundation to begin with, and we’re aligned on all of our views of just life in general. I think that you need to have that in your marriage. You need that foundation of being on the same page, you know? The way you raise your children, the way you want to handle money, everything.”

The couple share four children — Vivianne, 12, Eric “Bubby,” 10, Forrest, 8, and Denver, 2 — and said that becoming parents strengthened their own relationship.

“It’s made [our love] even stronger and made us even closer because you know — think about it. We created these people out of love together and now we’re raising [four] people that we have in common, not just biologically, but we have in common that we are so madly in love with these people that we created together and we have the same goal which is to love them and take care of them and give them the best life we possibly can, which makes us closer and stronger,” Jessie said on an episode of “The Motherly Podcast.”

She continued, “We already liked each other a ton before they came along, so it’s made us like each other that much more because we get to see each other as parents and I think we both are proud of the mother and father we are together.”

Thirteen years in, and it looks like the Deckers’ relationship is stronger than ever.
