Priscilla Shirer recently shared how she was so inspired by others’ faith when they had serious trials.

“There were three women in my life that were all going through, I mean, hard stuff — illness, trauma — and each of them was at such a hard point with their physicality that they either didn’t have the strength to, literally, pick up their Bible and read, or they couldn’t attend church anymore because of their health issues,” Shirer explained. “They literally could not function the way they usually would because of what was happening in their lives.”

Each woman told Shirer that they were so glad they had come to know God before their situation because He would bring scriptures and hymns to their minds.

“There are hymns that mom would just start singing,” the WAR ROOM actress said. “When she couldn’t even move anymore, she would just start singing these little hymns that were buried on the inside of her. She would be encouraged by it.”

The Holy Spirit encouraged them and built up their spirit in their poor situations.

“I think that’s so critical for all of us, knowing that we’re going to walk through suffering,” Shirer said. “There’s going to be things that come in our lives that we do not prefer. Well, then when things are pretty steady, we better be using that time to cultivate a friendship and a stability with the Lord.”

On her blog, Shirer shared about another Godly woman from her Bible study group who inspired her.

When she got to talk with her privately, she told Shirer, “Priscilla. Be a woman of faith — not just a woman who talks faith — and you’ll never regret it.”

This changed Shirer’s view of faith. She knew every step she took had to show her trust in God.

“By definition, faith is not talking about, thinking about, or even celebrating God’s truth. It is the process of adapting your behavior, your decisions and ultimately, your whole lifestyle so it aligns with what God has asked you to do — without needing to see the evidence it will all work out in the end,” she said.

Faith is not just a spiritual thing we talk about. It’s how we live out our beliefs and show trust in God.

Shirer encourages women everywhere to stay steadfast in their faith, in prayer and to recognize when the enemy is at work. We can all learn something from her reflections.
