Priscilla Shirer Explains How Anyone Can Talk to God

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actress Priscilla Shirer shared an encouraging message with TBN’s audience about our access to a relationship with God.

Shirer shared that we often think others have the special ability to connect with God that we don’t have.

“The enemy wants to convince you, he wants to convince me, that God has some sort of hotline connection between he and certain people,” she said. “Just our spiritual leaders, our pastors, our Bible study teachers, the folks that are on staff, the people that are in full-time ministry. The folks that have you know a microphone on their jacket, the people that are in the spotlight the folks who we go past their Instagram.”

Shirer explained, though, that we can hear from God for ourselves.

“You yourself can open up the word of God and know that the Holy Spirit can illuminate the scriptures and give you guidance and direction and insight and clarity and encouragement and comfort,” she added.

“In John chapter 10, Jesus said, ‘My sheep know my voice,” Shirer explained. “He basically says the default position for anybody who’s apart of the fold, the flock, the family of God, what my sheep do is hear my voice.”

Through her roles in hit Christian movies, such as Teddy Bear Award® winners WAR ROOM, OVERCOMER and I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, Shirer uses her platform to share God’s truth with her fans.

She’s slated to star in the Kendrick brothers’ upcoming movie THE FORGE.

The movie follows Isaiah Wright. “A year out of high school with no plans for his future, Isaiah is challenged by his single mom and a successful businessman to start charting a better course for his life. Through the prayers of his mother and biblical discipleship from his new mentor, Isaiah begins to discover God’s purpose for his life is so much more than he could hope for or imagine,” a synopsis reads.

“We’ve thought outside the box and did some things we’ve never done before with THE FORGE and can’t wait to see how audiences react to it and these themes of mentorship and second chances,” said Alex Kendrick.

Shirer frequently speaks about her faith and how she studies the Bible. Movieguide® previously reported:

WAR ROOM star Priscilla Shirer is sharing the Bible study method that helps her connect with God’s word.

“I want to share with you what I call The Five P’s of Bible study,” she said in a video for TBN…

Position yourself to hear from God…pour over the passage and paraphrase the major points…pull out the Spiritual principles…pose the questions…plan obedience and pin down the date.”

“This book is alive,” Shirer stated in an discussion with TBN “The Holy Spirit makes it so that He shines a spotlight in the place where we most need to be fed, where we need guidance and direction, so that God’s present word leaps up off the page and gives us exactly what we need for the circumstances we are facing right now.”
