What Exactly Makes an NFL Team Successful? QB Tells All in New Docuseries

What does it take to make it as a top team in the NFL? HBO and the NFL’s upcoming docuseries highlights the Buffalo Bills’ training to keep leveling up their game.

“It truly takes everybody to have team success,” Bills quarterback Josh Allen says in the trailer for HARD KNOCKS: TRAINING CAMP WITH THE BUFFALO BILLS. “It’s not just the leaders that matter. It takes a whole village.”

The five-episode docuseries will begin airing on HBO on Tuesday, Aug. 5 at 9 p.m. and streaming on HBO Max. The following four episode will release each week in the same time slot.

“Now that you’re inside the building, it’s what you do with the opportunity that matters most,” head coach Sean McDermott adds in the trailer.

According to Deadline, HARD KNOCKS will feature “veteran and rookie players during training camp at St. John Fisher University in Pittsford, NY. The series will also highlight quarterback Josh Allen, winner of 2024’s NFL Most Valuable Player award.”

“Josh Allen is Superman right now,” a commentator says in the trailer.

“I see the best player in the building wearing No. 17,” another notes, referring to Allen.

“We’re going to do whatever we can to bring the Lombardi [trophy] back to Western New York,” Allen affirms.

Allen spoke with Sports Illustrated, sharing how great it’s been having the HARD KNOCKS crew around.

“We know we have HARD KNOCKS in house, and every one of them has been so awesome so far. So it’s been cool to see them around,” he said.

“This is what a good organization looks like, and people are going to get a sneak peek into that and just how we operate. So again, you can kind of think two ways about it, but we’re taking the way of like, hey, let’s just do what we do and whatever is shown is shown,” he added.

Allen admitted that he tried not to “curse while filming HARD KNOCKS this offseason because his mother is watching the show,” per Sportskeeda Pro Football.

“Try not to cuss as much. Just making sure anything I say on there, my mom would be okay with,” Allen said.

While the Bills haven’t played in a Super Bowl since 1994, Allen along with other star players like Keon Coleman and Damar Hamlin hope they can push past the AFC Championship game this coming season and make it all the way to the biggest game of the year.
