Country icon Alan Jackson just said goodbye to live shows with a star-studded farewell concert, full of his hit songs.
“If anyone has lived the American dream, it’s me,” Jackson said during the concert, which boasted performances from country stars like Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Thomas Rhett and Lainey Wilson.
Speaking about the performances from his fellow country music singers, Jackson joked, “We’re not going to dwell on all this sad ‘last show’ stuff. Earlier it felt like a funeral and I was up in heaven watching all these people sing my songs.”
Jackson performed some of his greatest hits, including “I Don’t Even Know Your Name,” “Livin’ On Love,” “Midnight in Montgomery,” “Little Bitty,” “Country Boy” and “Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning).”

The country singer announced in 2021 that he had been diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a degenerative nerve condition.
“I have this neuropathy and neurological disease,” he told TODAY. “It’s genetic that I inherited from my daddy…There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious. And I know I’m stumbling around on stage. And now I’m having a little trouble balancing, even in front of the microphone, and so I just feel very uncomfortable.”
Jackson explained that the condition is “not going to kill me” but did acknowledge that he would have to slow down — and eventually stop — his concert tours.
One dollar of every ticket sold at his final concert went to the CMT Research Foundation, an organization that funds research to find a cure for Charcot-Marie-Tooth.
The singer announced his official retirement last year, telling the audience at a Milwaukee concert, “Y’all may have heard that I’m kinda winding down. In fact, this is my last roadshow of my career,” per People.
“It’s been a long, sweet ride; it started 40 years ago this September,” Jackson continued. “My wife and I drove to Nashville with an old U-Haul trailer and chased this dream. It’s been a crazy ride. I lived the American dream, for sure. So blessed. Thank you all so much for all your support of my music and attending my shows.”
ALAN JACKSON: THE LAST SHOW will air on NBC later this year and be available to stream on Peacock the following day.
While Jackson’s fans are sad to see him go, his final show was the perfect send-off for one of country music’s biggest stars.
