Pixar released a first look at some footage for its theatrical short LOVING DORY.
Led by BORROWED TIME director Lou Hamou-Lhadj, the first look showed Dory swimming around the sea with a plastic bag close behind her.
According to Deadline, the first look photos of the short were revealed at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival last week during a Pixar session.
“It’s a new chapter in Dory’s story, because she allows us to have fun,” Hamou-Lhadj said at the event, per Variety. “This time, she will fall in love – with a plastic bag.”
Pixar also announced its new film GATTO at Annecy.

“In GATTO, after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy, Nero begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives. Indebted to Rocco, the local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose — unless Venice gets the better of him first,” a synopsis of the movie reads, per Disney.
“Venice is our setting. We have a new, very immersive, painterly look. We like the idea of walking into a painting. Imagine walking into a Van Gogh painting,” director Enrico Casarosa said. “In Venice, there used to be tons of cats around the streets. They seemed to rule the place. We loved the idea of showing the secret life of cats of Venice. Nero has to fend for himself and he hasn’t had it easy, because he’s a black cat and everyone is superstitious. He also can’t swim.”
Nero then meets Rocco, who “rules the feline underbelly.”
“Rocco has been collecting art – cat art. Humans are scared of him, so Nero becomes Rocco’s favorite thief. But he gets to the point in his life when he wants out of this life of mischief and danger,” the director explained. “As you can imagine, it’s hard to get out. ‘If you will do this last thing for me, I will let you go,’ says Rocco. It’s a violin.”
Nero agrees and meets a new friend, Maya, who is a very talented street musician.
“As they start spending time together, they discover they have a lot in common – which threatens Nero’s mission. The big question is: Will he betray [her] or defy Rocco?” Casarosa asked. “We created an expressive Venice, both in an emotional way and immersive. It’s very textured. We look for that handcrafted feel. It’s a heightened version of Venice.”
GATTO arrives in theaters on March 5, 2027. Movieweb said it’s unknown which movie LOVING DORY will be attached to, so stay tuned for that release date.
