TANGLED star Zachary Levi believes America was built on faith and religion.
“Religion and faith are foundational to American culture. The founding fathers … Many of them were Christians…One could argue that most of them were,” he explained to Fox Nation.
Though some of them had different beliefs, they still all believed in God.
“That’s why it is foundational within our constitution and our bill of rights, that there are certain inalienable rights given from God. No man gives takes them away,” Levi said. “That can only be underpinned with a religious, spiritual foundation, right?”
Belief in a creator is so important because without it, it would allow people to have holds over each other, Levi said. They’d be subject to man — not God.
“It’s fundamental to our country. It’s fundamental to our rights, to our liberty, to our freedom,” Levi continued. “And I think that we need to maintain that.”
The founding fathers, though dominantly Christian, set up a system that allows people to have complete religious freedom without oppression.

“So long as you’re respectful to everyone else in this ecosystem,” he added.
Last year, Levi told The Christian Post that his faith is very important to him.
“I am only here right now because of the faith that God gave me as a young child, believing that I was called to be an actor. I knew it. I knew it in my knowing. I didn’t know anything cerebrally, I was a child, but I knew in my knowing that I had been called into this life,” he explained.
He knows that through all the struggles he’s had, God is still there.
“Life is hard. This career has been hard; all of the ups and downs, the continued battle that it is in this world that is a very broken world, and always has been a broken world,” he said. “And [it’s about] continuing to lean into that faith that surpasses all understanding, because if you’re just leaning on your own understanding, it all feels impossible.”
Levi told Bill Maher on his podcast that he believes God lays desires on people’s hearts.
“And I think that those things can be attained,” he explained, “but it requires us doing self-work enough to figure out how to receive that blessing.”
Levi’s most recent faith-based project is Fox’s docu-drama, DAVID: KING OF ISRAEL, on which he serves as host and narrator. It is currently available to stream on Fox Nation.
