‘I Just Want to Pray for Us’: Actress Launches Faith-Filled Social Media Series

Tamera Mowry Housley is declaring her faith on social media with a special prayer for her followers.

“I was a little hesitant to do this because of the uncertainty of backlash, people unfollowing, but how can I not?” she said in an Instagram video. “If you know me, you know that I am a woman of faith. I proudly call myself a Christian, and a lot of the times when I speak of my faith, it comes from a place of encouragement, love…so, I thought, ‘What would be a fun way of expressing that, maybe once a week?’ And that is maybe prayer, maybe just thoughts. So, let’s start with prayer.”

Mowry Housley then prayed for her social media followers: “Heavenly Father, I just want to pray for us. People who are searching out there, people who are trying to find joy, [or] their place in this world, or maybe even just peace in the midst of their everyday life. I pray for those that are struggling with their faith. I pray for those that have put their trust in You, and I can speak for myself when I say this, that we are able to leave it there.”

“I want to learn in the peace of completely letting go and knowing the balance of what is in my control, and what is in God’s control,” she continued. “Help us understand that, God, today. Help us to trust in Your word and give You our battles. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.”

In the caption of the video, Mowry Housley wrote, “This is where we begin. I’ll see you every Sunday.”

The actress frequently speaks about her faith online. In one recent social media video, Mowry Housley shared her “most repeated prayer.”

“That I live every day through the spirit and not my flesh,” she explained. “For people who may not understand that, I want to make sure that I am living out God’s will, not just my impulsive desires. The safest place is in His will.”

Mowry Housley has also spoken about how her faith has helped her navigate troubles, telling the “Jesus Calling” podcast, “The moment I give [my problems] to God, I know that even if I don’t understand what’s happening, the Lord understands.”

“I’ve learned to just let go and give it to God and know that He will give me peace, and most importantly — I always say the warmth of His love. Because love heals. It’s a balm, no matter what you’re going through, whether it’s fear, heartbreak, grief — the warmth of God’s love, knowing that He loves us and He cares for us despite our circumstances or whatever we’re going through, always uplifts me,” she concluded.

Mowry Housley is one of many Hollywood stars who are boldly proclaiming their faith, no matter what.
