‘God’s Doing the Work’: Actress Reveals Her ‘Most Repeated Prayer’

Tamera Mowry-Housley recently shared the prayer she returns to most often.

“My most repeated prayer is that I live every day through the spirit and not my flesh,” she said in a recent Instagram video. “For people who may not understand that, I want to make sure that I am living out God’s will, not just my impulsive desires. The safest place is in His will.”

Mowry-Housley explained, “How we learn to know God’s will is by reading His word. And most of the time, even if it’s a hard decision you have to make, you will find peace in that. Look up what the fruits of the spirit are. Love, kindness, patience, self-control. Those are the things that I think about and pray on every single day.”

“Sometimes the flesh wins. Sometimes,” she admitted but added, “I learned that when I pray about it, learn to hear His voice and give the Holy Spirit access to my body, my soul and my mind, it’s actually easier because God’s doing the work.”

Mowry-Housley often speaks about her strong Christian faith. In an episode of the “Jesus Calling” podcast, she shared how she relies on her relationship with God through good times and bad.

“I have realized that God cares about the smallest details in our lives. And I’ve also learned through heartbreak and death in the family, just life’s lessons that God is Jesus,” she explained. “Your relationship with Jesus is the only thing that can kind of get me over the hump. And what I mean by that is with every decision that I make — and yes, Ezekiel 34:11–16 talks about how we all stray.”

Mowry-Housley continued, “I mean, we’re not perfect, but we serve a God who’s going to always rescue us. And He’s going to be our shepherd. We’re the sheep. And I’ve learned that in my life whenever I feel like I’m struggling, lost, uncertain, I go to the Word. I go to the Word of God. And there I find my answers.”

Mowry-Housley and her husband Adam Housley recently announced their latest project — a YouTube series titled THE HOUSLEY FARM: BUILDING OUR DREAM HOME. The show will follow the couple as they renovate their newly purchased Napa Valley home.

“After years of looking around and trying to find the right property, we finally found it,” Housley said, via PEOPLE. “We’ve been dreaming about this for a long time. Getting out of the city, getting into the country, teaching the kids and all of us how to be more sustainable to the land, having chickens and an orchard and vineyard.”

Through her strong relationship with God, Mowry-Housley balances both her acting career and her home life.
