Great American Media is opening up a front-row seat to one of the biggest faith gatherings of the summer.

On Wednesday, July 1, Great American Pure Flix will livestream “The Bible and the American Story,” a special program hosted by Museum of the Bible from the Main Stage of the Great American State Fair on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., running from 4 to 9 p.m. ET.

The event anchors the fair’s “Faith, Values and Inspiration Day,” one of 16 themed days spread across the exposition, which runs through July 10 as part of the country’s 250th anniversary celebrations. Families who can’t make the trip to the Mall can watch the entire program free at app.pureflix.com/freedom250, thanks to a partnership between Museum of the Bible, K-LOVE, Freedom 250 and Great American Pure Flix.

Musically, the night leans hard into contemporary worship. Maverick City Music, Matthew West, Jordan Feliz, Blanca and Ryan Ellis will all take the stage, and organizers are teasing a sunset performance from an unnamed Grammy Award winner with 28 Dove Awards to his or her name.

The speaking lineup carries its own weight, too. Dr. Alveda King, niece of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., will address the crowd alongside Reverend Samuel Rodriguez, president of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, and Pastor Ben Stuart of Passion City Church DC. Museum of the Bible founders Steve and Jackie Green round out the roster, tying the evening back to the museum’s mission of tracing Scripture’s fingerprints on American history.

That mission isn’t new territory for the Greens or their museum. Movieguide® covered the “America Reads the Bible” event this past spring, when nearly 500 voices, including President Donald Trump, Patricia Heaton and Franklin Graham, read the entire Bible aloud over 84 consecutive hours, also streamed on Great American Pure Flix. “The Bible and the American Story” plays like a one-night encore of that same idea: the nation’s founding didn’t happen in a vacuum, and neither did its conscience.

The evening closes with a projection lighting up the Washington Monument, a fitting image for a program built around illumination. Deaf Bible Society will provide ASL interpretation throughout, a detail organizers highlighted as they work to make the broadcast accessible to as many families as possible.

Great American Media has spent the past few years consolidating its footprint in faith-and-family entertainment, merging with Pure Flix in 2023 to create Great American Pure Flix, the streaming service now carrying Wednesday’s broadcast. Movieguide® has tracked that growth closely, from the platform’s slate of original series to CEO Bill Abbott’s public push to make the network a home base for values-driven programming.

None of this guarantees a flawless show. Live broadcasts staged outdoors, on a holiday week, with a dozen moving parts, rarely go off without a hitch. But the substance here is worth a family’s attention regardless of production polish: a night built on the premise that the Bible shaped America’s story, offered free to anyone with an internet connection.

Families who want to watch can register at app.pureflix.com/freedom250. More information on attending in person, including directions to the Main Stage, is available at freedom250.org/celebration/the-great-american-state-fair.
