Hollywood stars, ministry leaders and government officials are all set to kick off April’s America Reads the Bible event.
“National leaders from every sphere of influence will testify to their dependence on the Bible as some of the busiest people on the planet and call America back to God’s Word daily,” said Bunni Pounds, the founder and president of Christians Engaged and organizer of this event, in a press release.
The opening ceremony will feature appearances from stars like EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND’s Patricia Heaton, GAF actress Candace Cameron Bure and THE FORGE’s Cameron and BJ Arnett, as well as representatives from Congress and the Administration.

“We believe the Word of God simply read and listened to can transform hearts, families, communities, and nations,” Pounds said. “We’re inviting Americans to listen or read aloud together in a powerful act of unity and faith for our 250th Birthday of America.”
America Reads the Bible will take place at Washington D.C.’s Museum of the Bible and will be livestreamed on Great American Pure Flix. The opening ceremony will also be livestreamed on April 18.
“America Reads the Bible is a powerful reminder that the foundation of our freedoms is deeply tied to the Word of God,” Bill Abbott, President and CEO of Great American Media, said in a statement. “This historic partnership reflects our mission to celebrate faith, family, and country by bringing this national moment into every home.”
Bure has been tapped as the official spokesperson for the event, as she “has been a trusted voice for faith and family values for decades,” Abbott said in a statement.
“We’re honored to have her serve as a top spokesperson for America Reads the Bible,” he continued. “Recent tragedy has reminded us how important it is to come together around faith and prayer. This historic event will allow us to share God’s Word in a way that will uplift and strengthen our country. We are honored to be part of such a meaningful celebration.”
COUNTY RESCUE star Brett Varvel will also take part in the celebration of scripture. In an Instagram video, he told followers, “I’ve been so honored and blessed to be a part of this and get to read one of the chapters of the Word of God out loud…And the reason that I think this is so important is because we are living in an unprecedented time in our country.”
“There’s tension, there’s turmoil, there’s strife, there’s anger, there’s hostility, identity crisis all over the place. And the only thing that I believe can bring healing to our land is truth. And truth is found in the Word of God,” he concluded.
America Reads the Bible will take place April 19–25.
