Brett Varvel shared his involvement in an incredible event where the entire Bible will be read at our nation’s capitol, and he invited everyone to be a part of it.

“Hey there, my name is Brett Varvel, and I wanted to talk to you for just a moment about an exciting event that’s happening at the end of April called America reads the Bible,” Varvel said in a video explaining the event. “So with our country turning 250 years old this year, we wanted to do something that’s unprecedented, that calls our nation back to its roots. That was a nation founded on the Word of God. And so, at the end of April, we are going to gather in Washington, D.C. to read the Bible out loud. That’s right. Over the course of an entire week, each day, for 12 hours a day; verse by verse, chapter by chapter, the Bible will be read out loud.”

“I’ve been so honored and blessed to be a part of this and get to read one of the chapters of the Word of God out loud…And the reason that I think this is so important is because we are living in an unprecedented time in our country,” the COUNTRY RESCUE actor continued. “There’s tension, there’s turmoil, there’s strife, there’s anger, there’s hostility, identity crisis all over the place. And the only thing that I believe can bring healing to our land is truth. And truth is found in the Word of God.”

Varvel is one of dozens of people involved in the event working to bring Christianity back to our country. Others involved in America Reads Event include Candace Cameron Bure, Franklin Graham, Senator Ted Cruz, Nick Vujicic, John Cooper, Andy Erwin, Danny Gokey, Kathy Ireland, Dallas Jenkins, Jen Lilley, Kim Walker-Smith and hundreds more who fight every day for faith.

Varvel, for example, uses his acting talent to support faith-based projects that bring viewers closer to Christ and focus more on Him. He currently stars in Great American Family’s COUNTY RESCUE which introduces a faith-based spin on the medical drama genre which is often full of excessive content.

“I think the relatability of the show is that it could cause people to lean into that question of ‘Maybe there is a God, maybe there is a God who loves me and maybe there actually is a plan for my life,’” Varvel previously told Movieguide®. “Our hope for the show is that it just encourages them to look deeper into the fact that they were created with a purpose in mind.”

The show has been nominated for the 2026 Movieguide® Faith & Freedom Award® For Television and Streaming for episode 2.5. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:

Episode 5 of COUNTY RESCUE: Season 2 is one of COUNTY RESCUE’s most dramatic episodes. All the conflicts and problems in the team come to a head. The logjam is broken when the team learns that their captain, Andy, who’s always been there for them, now needs them to be there for him. Episode 5 of COUNTY RESCUE: Season 2 has a strong Christian, moral worldview. It promotes faith, prayer, forgiveness, compassion, marriage, strength through unity, and patience while waiting on the Lord.

It is incredible to see how actors like Varvel care so much about their faith and use their platforms to promote Christianity and encourage their fans to make their faith the most important part of their lives. America Reads the Bible will take place in Washington, D.C. from April 18-25, 2026.
