Jonathan Roumie says there’s a reason viewers around the world resonate with THE CHOSEN’s message.
“People want truth with a capital T — objective truth, not subjective truth,” he told Crosswalk Headlines. “They want God’s truth, whether or not they’re ready to identify it as God’s truth — but it’s truth.”
The actor continued, “And Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life. And when you are experiencing Him through a show, through His message, through a depiction — through honest, authentic, committed, servile portrayals, they’re going to feel that, and they’re attracted to that. And it’s healing.”
Roumie said, “So many people have written to me and talked to me and come up to me and told me how their lives have changed by finding Christ through the show, through the vehicle of the show.”

He also shared some details about working on Season 7 of THE CHOSEN, saying the mood is “a lot less heavy” and “a lot less thick with tension and sorrow and pain.”
“There’s more of a joy, especially for me. I’ve only had a couple of days on set and with only a few people — but the day that I did have was just joyful,” he added.
When asked how he wants THE CHOSEN to be remembered, Roumie said, “That it served to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the world.”
In a recent interview with Fox News, Roumie shared that he hopes viewers walk away from the show knowing that Jesus wants a close, personal relationship with them.
“He is accessible to people, that everything he went through, he went through on behalf of all of humanity, and that ultimately he is love at its core and forgiveness and mercy and compassion,” the actor said. “So I think if people have this idea of him as this, solely as this judge or this, you know, dispassionate God, it’s completely wrong. It’s the inverse of that. He’s nothing but love and compassion, and he’s worth getting to know because your life will only be better by knowing him deeply.”
THE CHOSEN’s creator, Dallas Jenkins, has also spoken about what he hopes the series’ legacy will be, telling CBN News in 2024, “We’re seeing people all over the world [who are] telling us, ‘I know Jesus more. I love Jesus more. I’m reading my Bible more than ever because of the show.’ If that continues, there’s nothing greater than that.”
THE CHOSEN’s major success around the world is proof that people everywhere are looking for God’s truth.
