Bills Quarterback Josh Allen Calls Recent Win ‘Spiritual’ And ‘Bone-Chilling’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen made some moving comments after his team’s first game back since teammate Damar Hamlin went into cardiac arrest on the field last week.

In addition to celebrating Hamlin’s recovery process, Allen was also excited that the Bills had won their most recent game.

“It was just spiritual,” Allen said. “I was going around my team and saying, ‘God’s real.’ You can’t draw that one, write that one up any better.”

He continued, “It’s been three years and three months since the last kickoff return.”

This is significant because Hamlin’s jersey number is 3.

“You want the truth? It was spiritual. It really was,” he said at the post-game press conference. “Bone-chilling. It was special. I can’t remember a play that touched me like that in my life.”

Movieguide® previously reported on Hamlin’s recovery:

After going into cardiac arrest mid-game last week and being rushed to a local hospital, Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin is now breathing and speaking on his own strength.

The team announced that doctors were able to remove the 24-year-old player’s breathing tubes and that he FaceTimed his teammates.

“Per the physicians at UCMC, Damar’s breathing tube was removed overnight,” the Bills said on Twitter. “He continues to progress remarkably in his recovery.

“His neurologic function remains intact and he has been able to talk to his family and care team,” they added.

People from around the world have gathered to pray for Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin, who went into cardiac arrest mid-game on Monday.

“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition,” the Bills tweeted shortly after midnight on January 3.

The Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals, which was suspended after Hamlan’s injury, has now been canceled.

On Friday, Hamlin was able to FaceTime his teammates during their morning meeting.

“Love you boys,” Hamlin said.

The head coach for the Bills, Sean McDermott, thanked God for protecting and providing for Hamlin.

“Glory to God for His keeping Damar and his family in the palm of His hand over the last couple of days and His healing powers,” McDermott said in a press conference on Thursday.

McDermott also thanked the first-responders who were able to resuscitate Hamlin on the field, and for the family, friends and fans’ prayers.

“The faith, hope and love that have been displayed over the last three days has been nothing short of amazing,” he said. “It’s amazing to know the impact that this has had on so many people. And for Damar to be awake and his mom to be able to share that with him is incredible.”
