Mandy is a widowed Army major who leaves the military to open a bakery. After her husband’s death, she wants to give her son, Caleb, a settled life with family in a small town known for Storytelling. Jonesborough, TN, is known as “Storytown” for its annual storytelling festival. There, she runs into a childhood friend, Zach, who became a resolution expert and part-time master storyteller when he visits town.
Mandy initially scoffs at the idea of a master storyteller. However, as she grows closer to Zach, she begins to understand what draws people to stories. Mandy and Zach help each other. Mandy helps Zach with his new position running the Storytelling Festival after the Storytelling Center Director leaves for a family emergency, and Zach helps Mandy with her new bakery.
Despite being nervous about letting a new person into both her and her son’s lives, Mandy begins to wonder about a future with Zach. When Mandy hears the Director has resigned, she hopes Zach will stay and continue to run the Storytelling Center but hears surprising news that he plans to leave town after the Storytelling Festival, making her question their budding friendship.
