True crime, inventions that changed the world and Johnny Cash. There is something for everybody from the looks of A&E Global Media’s recent announcement of the 2026-2027 lineup.

The media group also owns Lifetime and the History Channel.

History Channel

EXTRAORDINARY ORIGINS, hosted by Ted Danson, is a 10-part series that explores the world-shaping discoveries and inventions.

“I’ve always been curious about how things begin — how an idea takes shape and, over time, changes the way we live,” said Danson. “This series looks at the unexpected paths behind some of our most important inventions and the people whose persistence and imagination made them possible.”

HISTORY’S STRANGE FORTUNES, executive produced and hosted by Kevin Bacon, is another 10-part series exploring incredible stories of financial twists-of-fate.

“From a famous rock-and-roll singer who spent $50,000 on a late-night snack, to a lucky gold miner who unearthed a nugget worth nearly $1 million, to an epic heist that turned a circus hypnotist into an infamous con artist, the series explores some of the most unbelievable, yet true financial tales ever recorded,” per Deadline.

In CRIME AND JUSTICE, Tom Selleck (BLUE BLOODS) steps into the world of true crime as he “will explore some of the most consequential criminal cases and investigations in American history,” Parade summarized.

Robin Roberts, co-anchor of GOOD MORNING AMERICA, will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11th attacks in a documentary titled 102 MINUTES INSIDE THE TOWER that gives a firsthand account of those trapped in the World Trade Center on the day of the attack.

A&E

A&E network will provide some true-crime offerings with THE GOTTI FILES, about infamous mafia boss John Gotti, and SCOTT PETERSON: THE NEW EVIDENCE, which will revisit the case of Scott Peterson who was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his wife Laci and unborn son Conner.

JOHNNY CASH: THE MAN COMES AROUND, directed by Dana Adam Shapiro (MURDERBALL), revisits the 1981 home invasion of the Man in Black’s Jamaican estate where Cash, wife June Carter and son John Carter were held hostage.

“The story is told for the first time by Cash himself through never-before-heard audio recordings, alongside rare photos, home video, and exclusive interviews,” per Country 102.5. “John Carter Cash, who was present during the robbery, appears in the film alongside family members Rosanne Cash and Carlene Carter.”

Lifetime

Moving into the non-documentary realm, movie ANGEL IN THE RUBBLE is based on a true story of Genelle Guzman (Sherri Shepherd) last survivor of the World Trade Center, who was trapped in Tower One for 27 hours. After praying, a mysterious man name Paul stayed with her until she was rescued. She believed him to be an angel, after finding no record of him when she sought to thank him.

Of course what’s Lifetime without romance?

Valerie Bertinelli, Henry Czerny and Eric McCormack will star in LOVE, AGAIN, which follows a couple when the husband is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s after 30 years of marriage.

Clint Black and wife Lisa Hartman serve as executive producers on upcoming movie WHEN I SAID I DO, inspired by the duet by the same name.

Not only is A&E promising a diverse line of programming, but it aims to continue create stories with “deeper context and new perspectives,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant EVP & Head of Programming, A&E and Lifetime.

“Whether it’s reexamining a case that continues to provoke debate, offering unprecedented access to a legendary crime family through the voices of the next generation, or exploring an iconic artist’s life through a moment that revealed his faith, empathy, and moral compass, each project invites viewers to see familiar stories in deeper ways,” said Bryant.

It looks like A&E has something for everybody.
