Country star Thomas Rhett’s wife, Lauren Akins, watched “chains come off” as the Holy Spirit poured through her.
On the “That Sounds Fun” podcast, Akins recalled being at an event and praying over many women. She saw the Holy Spirit transform them in that moment.
“I’m praying over these women, I’m watching my children’s faith change, I’m seeing all this stuff, and as I’m praying over these women — when I say the Holy Spirit was feeding me exactly what to speak and pray over them…when I say it was every time I prayed over one of these women, the things He was revealing to me about what He wanted…them to hear and know how He sees them about who they are, I watched chains come off of them in the spiritual realm,” she said.
Akins, who shares five kids with Rhett, says their goal as a family is to serve God.

“Saying ‘yes’ to Jesus has been the greatest decision of my life,” said Akins. “We aren’t perfect, but it’s a fun life following Him and walking through those doors, no matter how scary.”
She says the most pivotal moment of her faith journey was adopting their oldest daughter, Willa Gray.
“From the day I was born, Jesus was talked about and I was prayed over. And when life did get hard, it was second nature to turn to Jesus,” Akins said.
When she went to Uganda for the first time, she saw a baby that she would eventually adopt.
“I met her when she was five months old. She was a true orphan, and I was FaceTiming my husband later that night and I said, ‘I feel called to help her find her forever home, wherever that looks like’…he looked at me and he was like, ‘We’ll do it…I believe she’s ours,’” she recalled.
The adoption process was slow and difficult, but God came through.
“I had always wanted to adopt,” Akins said previously “My mom is actually adopted. I am a product of an adopted family…When I saw her…I was very drawn to her. I just tell everyone she was always my baby. It just took us a little bit longer to find each other.”
“It was probably the most pivotal moment in my faith journey, as well as my husband’s,” Akins said. “We just watched, time and time again, how the Lord just intervened in such divine ways.”
She explained, “There are moments on the top of the mountain, but lots of moments in the valley, too. [God] isn’t going to bring you anywhere just to leave you. And whatever it is He has started in your life, He will see it through and He will bring it to fruition.”
Akins’ life shows the power of Holy Spirit and faith.
