A PARIS WALTZ CHRISTMAS star Jen Lilley urged believers to reject the lies that come from this world and hold on to the truth of God’s Word.
“The Bible, it’s the sword, right? I mean, it can cut, it can wound, and that’s what the devil does, right? Like he always tricks us by using scripture and masquerading it. He uses scripture against us,” the actress said on Life Today TV. “He did that to Jesus in the desert. He did it to Peter, you know, like, ‘Lord, let it not be so that you would be crucified.’ And Jesus turns to him right, ‘Get behind Me, Satan.’ But then Jesus goes on, and He says, ‘For you have set your mind on the things of man and not on the things of God.’ Like we do that as Christians. So I always knew it was about a relationship.”

Lilley disclosed that she once suffered from an eating disorder, but because of the grace that she received from Jesus, she was set free from that.
Her pastor once told her something that helped her realize that sin so often comes from a lack of trust in God: “It was a realization that my pastor said, ‘The best definition I can come up with for sin is trusting in anything more than I trust God.'”
Lilley then referenced Romans 14:23, which reads, “But if you have doubts about whether or not you should eat something, you are sinning if you go ahead and do it. For you are not following your convictions. If you do anything you believe is not right, you are sinning.”
“When you, as a Christian, believe and come to the understanding that anything that you trust more than God is sin, it’s like it opens up the can of worms in your heart for all the sudden, hidden things that you like,” she continued. “You believe these lies. I believed the lie that’s half-truth, and this is what Satan does to every believer. I believe this lie. I got myself into this eating disorder, so I deserve the consequences of it. That’s true. I do deserve the consequences of it. You deserve the consequences of your sin. I deserve the consequences of my sin like we deserve death, but Jesus paid our debt.”
“So, Satan always comes in shame cycles, and he often uses the word of God to keep us bound,” she added.
What a powerful reminder that God sets us free from the sins that hold us captive.
