BLUE BLOODS star and New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg joined Forrest Frank in an open verse rap challenge on social media this week.
“Donnie D is still on the backup — apparently. 😂😎,” Wahlberg wrote in his social media video. “My dearest @jennymccarthy was not gonna let this @hiforrest #OpenVerseChallenge pass by without me getting involved — even though I told her I quit rapping. So now I’m backing up Forrest! 😂😎 Happy Sunday! 🙏🏼❤️✝️👑🙌🏼 #Challenge #sunday #worship 🤖❤️♾️💫✨🤟🏼🧡🙏🏼”
After Frank started the video with a chorus about how Jesus is alive, Wahlberg rapped:
And he’s coming back!
How could you ignore the math?
Jesus washed every sin in my past,
He just cleared every step on my path,
So I must do everything that He asks,
Obey the Son so I don’t feel the wrath.Related: BLUE BLOODS’ Donnie Wahlberg Explains the Significance Behind the Show’s Family Dinners
His love is the best so I pray and I fast,
Read scripts when I act, read Scripture like Acts facts — YO!You better read that one back!
Homie, you better play that one back!
Haters keep hating, debating these facts,
Debaters be shaking, they breaking like glass.
Frank hasn’t said he’s seen the video yet, but Wahlberg says he doesn’t care. He hopes that others’ videos get seen.
He added in the comments, “Read scripts when I act — read scripture like Acts! Facts! 🙏🏼”
Wahlberg, a Christian, recently said that he hopes he goes to heaven some day.
“Why am I going to heaven? I pray that I am,” he said on a recent episode of George Janko’s podcast. “I hope that I am, but I would only say because Jesus Christ is my Lord and savior and it’s by his grace.”
His cop series, BOSTON BLUE, where he stars as Danny Raegan, highlights faith in families.
“Faith being part of the show was important to everyone. The faith is different than Danny’s Catholic upbringing but we still get to see his upbringing and I think that’s really important too,” he explained. “It’s not the Reagan family sitting around the table saying grace but the fact that it’s still there — to me — is just as important.”
He added, “Especially when it comes to faith, it says more to me about Danny and Sean’s faith that they’re honoring the Reagan traditions even when they’re hundreds of miles away. They didn’t abandon it. They stick to it and they respect this new family’s traditions while still honoring their own.”
His next episode of BOSTON BLUE comes out on May 8 at 10/9c on CBS.
