Content:

(CCC, BB, V, M):  Dominant Worldview and Other Worldview Content/Elements:  Very strong Christian worldview with strong moral elements where Amish characters talk about trusting and relying on God to lead them and provide for their needs, Amish father lightly admonishes his daughter about Christian forgiveness, a Bible verse from Luke referring to the story of the Prodigal son is shown prominently, and the story makes a nice symbolic comparison to God the Father and people’s earthly fathers, and the lead female character and narrator mentions God’s Grace and says it has a way of “guiding us back home” even if we’ve strayed far, plus charity is strongly supported, as is respect for other people in a community of different kinds of people, and thus displaying neighborly love; Foul Language: We hear two uses of “oh my gosh”;

Violence:

  No depicted violence, but a waitress finds a bloody shirt in a dumpster, but the explanation turns out to be an innocent one; Sex:  No sexual content, but a young woman mentions having a romantic relationship with a young man three years ago, and the young man is said to be very popular with the ladies (in a relatively chaste way, however); Nudity:  No nudity; Alcohol Use:  No alcohol use; Smoking and/or Drug Use and Abuse:  No smoking or drugs;

Miscellaneous Immorality:

  Young Amish men mention they engage in horserace betting when they are on Rumspringa, which is the season where the Amish allow young people take time away from their faith before committing to the Amish way of life as an older teenager or young adult, a man forsakes his family to pursue his personal dreams, and a character deceives her family and community because she has a wrong idea about the strict upbringing in her family (she interprets it too legalistically, but she is corrected).
