Social media influencer Lindsey Gurk opened up about a special way that she believes God spoke to her.
“If you need a sign from God, all you have to do is ask,” Gurk began a recent social media video. “He delights in sending his children signs…I am I’m going to share this story, and I have alluded to it in the past, that I didn’t think it was the right time, but now is the right time.”
She explained how, “Three years ago, a thought entered my mind, almost as if it was an interruption, for a book, and I didn’t know what to do with that, and I felt definitely ill-equipped, and I can’t be trusted with something as important as this.”
Gurk shared that as she prayed about it, people from the “literary world” began showing up in her DMs. She asked for confirmation.

“I didn’t just ask God for a sign. I asked Him to come up with the sign and then give me the sign when it was time to move forward, because I really wanted to say yes but didn’t want to be impulsive, and I didn’t want to step into a territory that I was not ready to step into yet,” she explained. “I wrote down ‘bluebird on the windowsill.'”
Gurk would walk “around the house looking at windows, and blue birds kept showing up everywhere, but not on the window.”
She continued, “Then one day, my family and I sit down, and we are watching the live animation version of SNOW WHITE, and a blue bird flies across the screen and lands on a windowsill of a carriage, and I paused it. I was just like, ‘Oh my goodness, my God, you’ve done it. You’ve done it.’ Even the story of Snow White is about a daughter of a king who had who had forgotten her identity…I knew it was time to move forward with a book, but I knew that I couldn’t do it alone. I knew I that I needed to rely on God for everything.”
Although she didn’t plan on asking God for another sign, she believes He gave her one.
“Today I opened my phone and I see a video of a woman who said that she had a crash out with God and asked Him to send her a bird as a sign that He is still with her. The bird did not come that day because she said she was obsessively looking. He came the next day, and he was there for like 20 minutes,” she recounted.
Then Gurk said, “I keep watching, and it is on a windowsill, and at the end of the video, she says, ‘He hears you.’ My maiden name is Simon, and in Hebrew, that means ‘he hears.'”
She concluded, “Three bluebirds on a windowsill, and all I asked for was one. That’s how He works. That’s how He loves, always in abundance. So if you need to sign from God, ask Him.”
1 John 5:14-15 tells us, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of him.”
Currently Gurk is working on her book and is represented through Illuminate Literary Agency.
