Atlanta Falcons running back Nathan Carter knows that only Jesus can truly satisfy our souls.
“Jesus nourishes us, satisfying and meeting all of our needs,” he preached in a sermon at a Christian school in Michigan. “That Jesus is the one who came to live a life that we could not live and to die the death that we deserve to die, inviting us into a real, flourishing relationship with Him, so that we will experience abundant life, not just in heaven, but here on earth.”
In the caption, he explained that he wanted to share with the students what it “looks like to have a deep, flourishing relationship with the Lord.”

“This looks like: Expressing their desire for God, Examining What’s Competing for their Affection for God, and Embracing the Promises of God,” Carter defined. “And I believe it starts with a heart posture of knowing that there is nothing in this world that will ever satisfy us and quench the thirst in our deserted souls than the living water found in Jesus Christ.”
Carter spoke about Isaiah 55:1-2, which reads, “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and you will delight in the richest of fare.”
“Jesus invites us all to taste and see that He is good,” the running back concluded, referencing Psalm 34:8. “He’s the One who died for my sins and for yours, and gives us the gift of eternal life by grace through faith. Why would you not accept the free gift given to you?”
Carter went undrafted in the 2025 NFL Draft but landed as an undrafted free agent with the Falcons, making the team’s final 53-man roster last year, WILX 10 reported last August.
Since his time at Michigan State, he’s used his platform to proclaim Christ.
“Jesus is my rock,” Carter told Sports Spectrum in 2023. “He is my foundation. He is the reason why I live. He is my purpose in this world where there seems to be no hope. In a world where it seems like everyone is looking for something to fill them up and fill their void, Jesus is that for me.”
He proclaims the same message today.
“You will not experience a rich and satisfying life apart from Jesus, no matter how hard you try,” Carter wrote in April 2026 before referencing John 10:10: “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
For Carter, abundant life isn’t found in NFL accolades but in the free gift of God’s grace, available to anyone who wants to “taste and see.”
