More Detail:

FAITH IN THE FLAMES: THE NICHOLE JOLLY STORY on Lifetime TV and streaming on Prime Video is the true story of a heroic nurse who saved many lives in the devastating Paradise fire in Northern California in 2018. FAITH IN THE FLAMES: THE NICHOLE JOLLY STORY tells a compelling, accurate story, with a strong Christian, moral worldview stressing faith, family, prayer, courage, and helping people in danger, but the scenes sometimes feel a bit choppy and forced, and the movie depicts many perilous situations that are too strong for younger children.

Nichole Jolly lives in Paradise, Calif., with her husband and two sons. Her relationship with them is rocky, and she tends to work more than she spends time with them. She works as a nurse at the local hospital, where she cares for patients.

While working one day, the hospital gets an evacuation alert. A fire started up in the hills and is swooping down toward the town. Nichole quickly helps load the patients into ambulances to be transported to the next town over, far away from the flames. Nichole, however, is forced to stay behind when the roads get blocked.

With the fire dangerously close and no contact with her family, she decides to stay and help those who are arriving at the hospital with burns and injuries. A few other doctors and nurses are there too, and they all desperately work, hoping that help will show up, and they will be rescued. Her husband and sons, at the same time, are also in a tough spot as they fight to make it out of the town alive.

FAITH IN THE FLAMES tells a compelling story. It gives viewers a good look behind the scenes of the deadliest fire in California history. For example, it portrays the speed and power of the flames that overtook the town so quickly with so little notice. While the movie fulfills what it’s trying to do, the story sometimes seems a bit choppy and forced. The visual effects, especially in the driving scenes, are noticeably low quality.

That said, FAITH IN THE FLAMES has a strong Christian, moral worldview. It stresses faith, family, courage, prayer, and redemption. Nichole quotes from Psalm 23. Also, a Christian hymn is sung. In addition, many different people, from firefighters to nurses, brave the flames and work together to lend aid to people who are injured. Finally, Nichole begins to discover just how much her family matters. This occurs not only with her but also with other members of her family.

There are perilous scenes throughout FAITH IN THE FLAMES. Also, people are shown severely burned, including one person who succumbs to them. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for younger children.
