New England Patriots star running back TreVeyon Henderson shared a Christ-centered message when asked about his thoughts on Pride Month.
“I think the biggest thing I know is the cost that it comes with [it] when I share my faith in Jesus Christ,” Henderson said in a video shared by Holy Athletes, addressing a conversation he had with head coach Mike Vrabel.
“I have love for everyone, but my love may not look like the world’s love,” he explained. “I try to love people through a biblical lens with just grace and truth. I know a lot of people may be offended by it. But I think the biggest thing is just we look at life [through] two different lenses. I look at it one way; someone else looks at it another.”
“I’m not going to stop sharing my faith, you know? I’ll continue to share my faith and reach people and just let the Lord use me to reach people with love and truth,” Henderson continued. “But Coach Vrabel, we’ve had a great conversation, and he was very respectful just about my beliefs. He expresses that a lot on his team, and so I really appreciate Coach for that.”
In that same conversation, The Boston Globe reported that Henderson also talked about some of the criticisms he’s gotten for being open about his faith.

“I’m not a perfect man. I’m a man that makes mistakes, as well. But I just try to continue to lean on the Lord to help, to allow Him to help me to become the best person that He calls me to be,” the running back declared.
“I’m not a perfect person. I go through things just like everyone else,” he added. “That’s why I’m really just open about my struggles and the things that I once went through before I met Christ. But I think this world — we need hope, and I just try to point people to the only one who can really give us true hope.”
Some of those criticisms came after Henderson spoke out about the realities of heaven and hell.
“One of the biggest lies of the devil that this world is deceived by is that everyone ‘rests in peace’ once they pass away,” Henderson shared on Instagram “Jesus says that the highway to hell is wide, and the gateway to life is very narrow.”
The athlete continued: “Hell is a real place where Jesus doesn’t describe resting, but a place where there is torment and pain, Luke 16:24. A place where there is ‘weeping and gnashing of teeth,’ Matthew 13:42. For those who reject Jesus Christ for who He truly is and what He’s done, and practice a lifestyle of sinning.”
No matter how much criticism Henderson may get for speaking about his faith in Christ, the running back knows it’s all worth it because of Jesus’ sacrifice for us on the cross.
