GUNS & MOSES follows the story of Rabbi Mo, the leader of a Jewish synagogue celebrating another successful year. The celebration is cut short when one of the members of the congregation is gunned down in seemingly antisemitic violence. While the police immediately identify a suspect and place him in prison, Mo is not so sure the man is guilty. So, he embarks on his own investigation. However, as he begins to uncover a plot of fraud and blackmail, those in power begin to target Mo and his family to put an end to Mo’s inquiry.

GUNS & MOSES tells an entertaining story packed with serious drama and intrigue. The movie stresses strong biblical, moral values. Mo fights for justice and works for good to overcome evil. He also represents a strong father and husband and stands for integrity. Finally, the movie shows him praying and declaring the greatness of the Lord, but from a Jewish perspective. That said, GUNS & MOSES features strong action violence. Multiple characters are shot and killed. So, MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and teenagers.

More Detail:

GUNS & MOSES follows the story of Rabbi Mo Zaltzman, who takes it upon himself to solve a string of murders after the police blame a child with Nazi ties who could not possibly be the culprit. As Mo performs his own investigation, he uncovers curious evidence. However, as he gets closer to solving the mystery, his life gets placed evermore on the line. Eventually, he must choose whether to give up his investigation to protect his family, or pursue justice to the end, but face grave danger along the way.

While hosting a gala to celebrate another successful year with his congregation, Rabbi Mo is provided incredible news when wealthy businessman Alan Rosner commits $2 million to the creation of a new temple, to move the congregation out of their current space in a strip mall. The celebration, however, is short lived as Alan is immediately gunned down by a someone who speeds away before he can be identified.

When the police arrive, they immediately know who performed the act. A young man had previously been seen outside of Mo’s congregation making gun signals with his hand. When they arrive at the man’s house, their suspicions are confirmed when they find a matching gun in his car. Mo, however, is not so sure the young man is guilty because they had a serious heart to heart that seemed to change the man’s mind about his antisemitic views. Mo thinks his suspicion to be confirmed when he visits the man in prison and vows to make things right through an investigation of his own despite the police telling him they’ve got everything under control.

Though his intentions are worthy, Mo finds himself in over his head as he identifies multiple people who had a motive and possessed the means to kill Alan. Each time Mo feels he’s close to a breakthrough, however, he’s stopped. At the same time, Mo begins to uncover a plot Alan was involved with that the other conspirators don’t want brought to light. As Mo realizes that the two cases may be intertwined, those in power begin to close in on him, placing his life and the lives of his family in increasing danger.

Mo, however, will not allow justice to go unserved as he works to protect his family while continuing his pursuit of justice. Sadly, not everyone who claims to be on Mo’s side really are. He only finds this out when it’s too late, leaving him in a precarious situation not knowing who he can trust. It also leaves’ Mo’s family in even more danger.

GUNS & MOSES tells an entertaining, well-made story that packs serious drama and intrigue while remaining relatively family friendly. Mo reflects strong biblical, moral values as he fights for justice and truth to prevail. The movie also stresses the strong protecting the weak, sacrifice, compassion, and integrity. Finally, Mo is a very strong father and husband and defends his family’s safety above his own.

GUNS & MOSES has some strong action violence, with multiple characters being shown shot and killed, including an intense firefight that occurs for multiple minutes. It also features some pro-Nazi, white supremacist characters who deny the Holocaust, but they’re wholly portrayed as villains. So MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children and teenagers.
