Singer Jessie James Decker and husband and former football star Eric Decker credit their shared “value system” as the key to the success of their 12-year marriage.

“I think, obviously, we’re rooted in our value system where we have four kids,” Eric told Fox News. “We do love the community we raise our kids in. We take time to just be home and, in a sense, be with our family, that grounds us.”

Jessie added, “I think we just view the world the same way. I think, you know, we had a strong foundation to begin with, and we’re aligned on all of our views of just life in general. I think that you need to have that in your marriage. You need that foundation of being on the same page, you know? The way you raise your children, the way, like, you want to handle money, everything.”

The couple share four children: Vivianne, 11, Eric, 10, Forrest, 7, and Denver, 1.

In a 2017 interview, Jessie spoke further about their relationship in an interview with PEOPLE, saying, “We just like each other and we always have and it continues to strengthen.”

“I think we’re such great parents together — I could not have picked a better partner to have kids with,” she continued. “We parent so well together and besides parenting well together, we both just are still madly in love with each other and we genuinely enjoy each other’s company.”

The couple’s bond was strengthened even further during their time on the latest season of SPECIAL FORCES: WORLD’S TOUGHEST TEST.

“We went through something really hard together, and it really does bring you closer together,” Jessie told Fox News.

She told Us Weekly she was initially unsure about saying yes to SPECIAL FORCES, explaining that the intense reality show was “not anything I’ve ever wanted to do.”

Jessie eventually said yes, saying, “I felt like I needed to say yes because I knew I would have that feeling in my stomach of, ‘You failed by already saying no to this.’”

Eric added, “I mean, we went back and forth on whether it made sense or not, but it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity to do something really extreme, like bucket list-type things. To do it together was actually really fun. It was a whole different experience. We’ve never done anything to that degree, obviously. Just to kind of rough it and be tested mentally and physically and have the support system was awesome.”

From parenting their four kids to working together to get through a survival reality show, the Deckers’ relationship is rock solid.
