Missy Robertson Says Taking In Newborn Is Part Of God’s Plan For Her Family: ‘His Timing Is Perfect’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Missy Robertson recently shared details about the newborn baby she and her husband, Jase, took into their care after his mother could no longer look after him.

The Robertsons met the woman through one of their ministries but had not talked to her in years.

“It was a shock,” Missy said. “We weren’t expecting it. We are not signed up to be foster parents or anything like that.”

She continued: “I said, ‘I have to think about this and pray about this. I may not be the right person to do this. I don’t want to take him home to a chaotic home, pawning him off to people all the time when he needs to be secure and loved and loved on. There were so many important factors to consider.”

It was a big decision, but some words from Jase made the correct choice obvious.

“He said two things: ‘One, she chose life. She had not always done that in the past,” Missy explained. “‘Two, she came back to the people who showed her Jesus.'”

The couple opened their home and hearts to the baby, but the arrangement isn’t permanent. The newborn’s mother hopes to one day take care of him again.

“He’s not adoptable right now; he’s not available,” she shared. “We’re waiting to see about her situation … it’s not just cut and dry. … It’s challenging and enlightening, but we’re just hoping that we can be there to support the mother right now.”

Although the situation is still up in the air, Missy says she and Jase are open to whatever God has planned for their family.

“His timing is perfect. Jase and I are open to whatever the Lord has for us and whatever He’s preparing us for in advance,” Missy said. “Whatever that is, is up to the Lord, and we just try to be available.”

Movieguide® previously reported on the Robertsons’ decision to take in the baby:

Former DUCK DYNASTY stars Missy and Jase Robertson are candid about their Christian faith and recently decided to show Christ’s love to a newborn baby.

“In the years past, Jase and I have been involved in multiple ministries — some that we are engaged in with other people, some that we ran ourselves,” Missy told CBN’s Faithwire. “And in one of those ministries, we got to meet some amazing women, and it was one of these women who needed help at this time.”

One of these women had just given birth and needed help taking care of the newborn because she could not “physically take care of” the child. She asked the hospital to call Missy, and the baby was signed over to her.

“When my phone rang and I talked to the person at the hospital, I thought, ‘There’s no way I can. How can I do this?'” Missy admitted.

Missy said she was unsure how her husband, Jase, would react to the news. But Jase wanted to help just as much as she did.

“He said, ‘I think we should do everything we can to help this baby and this mother,'” Missy shared. “And I said, ‘OK, well, here we go,’ and we brought him home the next day.”
