New York Knicks shooting guard Josh Hart took to X to celebrate the rise of Christianity in America.

Hart reposted a video from Fox News, which highlighted an increase in Bible sales, Christian app downloads and Christian music.

“A Christian revival across the country, Bible sales increasing over 40% since 2022, religion app downloads surging nearly 80% that increase since 2019, and Christian music Spotify streams up 50% from 2019,” a Fox News anchor said in the video.

Hart commented, “🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 ”

These statistics come as a recent Barna study found that Millennials and Gen Zers are driving a “resurgence in church attendance” and “outpacing older generations, who once formed the backbone of church attendance.”

The “typical Gen Z churchgoer now attends 1.9 weekends per month, while Millennial churchgoers average 1.8 times — a steady upward shift since the lows seen during the pandemic,” the research group said.

“We were able to analyze our data in a fresh way to show what many pastors feel—that even really regular churchgoers do not attend that often,” Daniel Copeland, Barna’s vice president of research, shared. “Among all churched adults, we found that they attend, on average, 1.6 times per month, or roughly two out of every five weekends. This new analysis of the tracking data helps us better understand the frustrations pastors feel when they are trying to build momentum for their congregations, such as series-based preaching and mobilizing volunteers.”

“Even so, the fact that young people are showing up more frequently than before is not a typical trend,” Copeland added. “It’s typically older adults who are the most loyal churchgoers. This data represents good news for church leaders and adds to the picture that spiritual renewal is shaping Gen Z and Millennials today.”

Meanwhile, Christian music’s massive growth comes thanks to singers like Forrest Frank and Brandon Lake.

“This moment feels special because two Christian artists are each having a crossover mainstream moment at the same time,” Xander Zellner, a senior music data analyst at Billboard, told NPR earlier this year after Frank’s “Your Way Is Better” and Lake’s “Hard Fought Hallelujah” featuring Jelly Roll charted on the Billboard Hot 100.

Holly Zabka, president of Provident, Sony’s Christian music subsidiary, Zabka explained why Gen Zers are drawn towards Christian music, saying, “So many of them struggle with depression, and what they are finding in Christian music is another way to deal with things that [give] them greater meaning in what they’re walking through.”

Similarly, athletes like Hart have become more bold in sharing their faith. NFL stars like C.J. Stroud often speak about Jesus, while others, like Team USA track athlete Noah Lyles, are getting baptized.

Praise God for how He’s moving in the hearts of Americans, giving Christians a greater opportunity to advance the gospel.
