AMERICAN IDOL Alum Stays ‘Strong’ Believing This About Jesus

Christian artist Danny Gokey shared a clip of his track “Stay Strong” on his Instagram page to encourage his followers to keep their faith in Christ, even when it’s hard.

“Sometimes we don’t get to see the answers we want BUT, we can ‘Stay Strong’ in knowing the One who holds all the answers, and that He also hold us!” Gokey wrote in the caption of the post.

The lyrics to the song read:

But if I never see the promise on this side of the graveMy hope might be shaken but my faith will never breakBecause I know the day is coming when You’ll right all of the wrongSo I’ll praise You in the waiting and my faith will stay strong

The AMERICAN IDOL alum often challenges his followers to pursue God.

In a recent video, he urged them to “pick up their mat of depression.”

“How long are you going to stay in that place of depression? How long would you keep excusing with unforgiveness? You know, we find a situation here in John 5, one man who had been disabled for 38 years. Have you been in your condition for a long time? Have you been in that depression? Have you been feeling stuck?” Gokey asked in the video.

He continued: “When Jesus saw that he was in that position for 38 years. He said to him, ‘Sir, do you want to get well?’ I believe Jesus is asking that same question, but it’s interesting how this man responds. And he says, right here, ‘Sir,’ the disabled man answered, ‘I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, but when I’m coming, someone goes down ahead of me.'”

“You know, it’s interesting. We have a lot of excuses for why we are in that place, and a lot of times, you’re justified. What did happen to us was very painful, but still, the question remains: do you want to get well? And when this man gave Jesus an excuse, Jesus still answered, and He said, ‘Get up, pick up your mat and walk.’ I want to challenge you today. Pick up your mat of depression and throw it away. Pick up that mat of unforgiveness and get rid of it, because the word of God says that everything is working together for my good,” Gokey concluded.
