Danny Gokey is encouraging fans to share their stories as part of a social media challenge surrounding his latest single, “I Got You.”
“What’s a time that God has come through for you???” he wrote in an Instagram post. “As we get ready for the release of my new album this summer, we wanted to celebrate the first single, ‘I Got You’ with a bunch of fun content this week…and we want to hear from YOU, too!”
Gokey continued, “Share your stories about a time that you’ve seen God show up in your life, or use ‘I Got You’ in a creative way, then tag me and the song, and we might just repost on my socials. Let’s find ways to help people remember that when we’ve got God, He’s got us!”
Gokey released “I Got You” earlier this year.
In a statement about the single, he said the song is “a reminder that when you’ve got God by your side, you can face whatever comes your way!”
“Even when your world is shaking, believing that he is with you & will bring you through,” Gokey continued. “My prayer is that this song encourages you to stand firm in that & keep praising, no matter what!”
In another Instagram post celebrating the song, Gokey wrote, “Where would YOU be if it weren’t for God??? I would be lost, without hope, full of fear. BUT I’ve Got God! And with Him, I know that I can get through ANYTHING!”
Movieguide® previously reported on Gokey’s testimony:
Christian artist Danny Gokey is sharing how God has been there for him in all his darkest moments.
“He was with me when I lost my first wife unexpectedly. He carried me through my secret bouts of depression and my battle with OCD,” Gokey wrote in a recent Instagram post. “He helped me find love again and gave me 4 beautiful kids. He’s proven his faithfulness to me but the best part about Him is: Even though I’ve failed him 1000 times — His love has never failed me.”
The singer-songwriter often posts messages of encouragement and faith to his Instagram. One recent post saw Gokey reflecting on the importance of God’s timing.
“Of course, everyone’s story and journey are going to be different, but your first priority should ALWAYS be your relationship with and obedience to God!” he wrote. “For me, it involved being willing to lay down my big dreams and plans to serve the local church with my gifts. That obedience is what allowed God to build what He wanted in me BEFORE building my platform.”
Gokey continued, “But that happened in HIS timing – not mine and not the world’s. Don’t let anyone tell you that it’s too late (or too early) for you. You’re not too young, or too old. God doesn’t work that way. Serve and develop and use the gifts God has given you right where you are, trust Him to direct your steps, and see what He can do!”
