HOME TOWN Boasts Huge Audience Numbers After Mid-Season Finale

By Movieguide® Contributor

Halfway through the fifth season of HOME TOWN, the hit HGTV series has recorded impressive viewership numbers, with more than 23 million December.

The show, which stars married couple Erin and Ben Napier, just had its mid-season finale. The audience grew even more, with triple-digit increases in two demographic categories.

HOME TOWN also ranked as the number two cable program and a top three non-news/sports program with specific demographics as well.

“After this level of ratings performance, we know that Ben and Erin fans will be happy to hear the news that we are either in production or post-production on 13 new HOME TOWN episodes that will premiere later this year and air into 2023,” said Betsy Ayala, the Senior Vice President of Programming & Development at HGTV.

“Home Town continues to be a hit for so many reasons, but mostly because the Napiers are a beautiful family whose love for their small town lifestyle, neighbors and community – and their belief in the small businesses that support all of that -are truly aspirational,” Ayala continued. “We continue to be surprised and delighted by Ben and Erin and look forward to what they tackle next.”

Fans love the Napiers’ family dynamic and clear adoration of one another.

Movieguide® previously reported on the success of HOME TOWN and how the Napiers balance work and family:

The newest show from HGTV’s famous duo Erin and Ben Napier, HOME TOWN TAKE OVER, was an instant hit for long-time fans. The “special event series” followed the couple as they traveled to Wetumpka, Alabama, to apply their renovation skills to an entire town, not just one house.

In May 2021, the couple premiered the new show and also welcomed their second child Mae. The couple also share their first daughter, Helen. In a recent Instagram post, Erin answered fans’ questions about their plans for future shows now that they have two daughters.

“We can FINALLY tell you officially, #HGTVHomeTown season 6 and #BensWorkshop season 2 are in production and coming in 2022. I am so proud of you, @scotsman.co!” she wrote on Instagram.

However, questions remained for fans about the possibility of a continuation of HOME TOWN TAKE OVER, which Erin addressed via Twitter.

“I’ll be honest, the takeover life is not all that simpatico with family life. it was an amazing adventure for us, but likely the only one like it until (maybe) our girls are much older,” she said.
