Blippi and PARKS AND RECREATION star Nick Offerman joined forces for an unlikely promotion: woodworking.

“Hey, it’s me, Blippi, and today I want to introduce you to one of my special friends…it’s Nick Offerman!” Clayton Grimm, aka Blippi, began a recent video posted to Facebook.

Grimm continued, “We’re going to start from bottom to top, making a canoe, right?”

“No, we’re going to start a little smaller, Blippi,” Offerman replied.

The video sees the two cutting wood and using tools together to create something. Blippi then reveals that they made “slapsticks.”

“Everything’s done. The only thing we need to do is paint some beautiful decorations,” Blippi said.

Offerman explained, “This is the first project in my book, Little Woodchucks: Offerman Woodshop’s Guide to Tools and Tom Foolery.”

Blippi concluded, “I think we’re all finished. Thanks, Nick!”

In an interview with MSNBC, Offerman explained that a big part of the inspiration for his book was to get kids off of screens.

“I have a co-author named Lee Buchanan, and she ran my shop for 10 years, and she has a couple of sons. We both had parents that just taught us to make things,” he said.

He continued, “We’re both very active citizens, like we live these radical lives outside of technology, and the more that technology and information systems and AI sort of take over our thinking. For us, we’re saying no, no, get off those screens, get with your family, look each other in the eye…”

Offerman recently completed a tour for his new book, which he shared about in an Instagram video where he sings and teaches children how to woodwork.

“Calling all Woodchucks large and small! Here is an example of the flavor of mirth and stupidity you can enjoy at my book tour events. Endless thanks to Mark Rivers, my favorite musical collaborator,” he said in the caption.

Tour dates ran Oct. 11-19 in various U.S. cities. People in the comment section showed support for the actor.

“This is so wholesome I’m obsessed,” one person said. Another person added, “Adore you and what you do.”

Along with being a woodworker, the actor and comedian has a deep passion for writing.

On his website, he explains, “Inspired writing has always been the most influential art form in my own life: Great screenwriting as well as stage plays, not to mention most of my woodworking education from books and periodicals, and of course, books.”

Other books Offerman has penned include Where the Deer and the Antelope Play, Good Clean Fun, Gumption and The Greatest Love Story Ever Told, which he co-wrote with his wife Megan Mullally.

Offerman’s new book Little Woodchucks: Offerman Woodshop’s Guide to Tools and Tom Foolery is available to purchase now wherever books are sold.
