A CAT’S LIFE

A CAT’S LIFE is a lighthearted, real-life story of a young girl and the bond she has with her new cat, Lou. The movie takes viewers on a journey through the trials and tribulations Lou and his best friend, Clémence, face. A CAT’S LIFE is a sweet, serious, sometimes funny, child-friendly movie with many positive morally uplifting biblical messages that promote the importance of family and always telling the truth. However, there are a few scenes that are violent and contain weapons.

The movie begins with a mother cat nurturing her baby kittens. Three days later, the kittens are a bit more grown up and one small kitten [Lou] decides he’s determined to climb out of the open window in the attic and go explore the great outdoors.

The first time he tries to escape, Lou is unsuccessful, but, with determination and some grit, he finds a way and makes it outside onto the rooftop of the house. However, soon after, Lou’s mother follows her baby kitten outside and warns him to get back in the house.

From then, we come to the first action violent scene where the mother cat is seen chasing after a mouse. Inevitably, the mouse would be the mother’s food, but she is unsuccessful in her attempt to capture the mouse.

As the movie moves forward, a young girl named Clémence finds Lou in the attic and brings him downstairs to ask her parents if she can keep him. The parents are then seen arguing with one another. Then, when Clémence asks her parents if she can keep the cat, her mom quickly denies the request, but Clémence’s father is more open to the idea. The mother makes a snarky comment, and Clémence is able to keep Lou.

Over the next few days, Clémence and her new feline friend, Lou, get to know each other. Clémence soon finds out how much Lou just wants to be in the wild and explore the great outdoors. While on a trip to the family cottage, Lou escapes from his kennel and runs into the wild forest. There he sees a giant bobcat and is soon rescued by the neighbor, Madeline.

Clémence is not keen on Madeline, as her nickname from Clémence is “The Witch.” Clémence doesn’t like Madeline because she is rude to Clémence and constantly intimidates her. It is also revealed that Clémence called Madeline, “The Witch,” because she would talk to her dog, Rambo. Clémence soon realized she is very similar to Madeline because she also talks to Lou.

Moving forward, Lou once again escapes from the house and is forced to sleep outside. While there, Lou finds a white cat that he seems to be very fond of. The two run every which way until another feline starts chasing Lou and his friend. Clémence wakes up to Lou and the unfriendly feline outside fighting. Clémence rescues her beloved cat and keeps him safe inside.

The next day, Clémence, finds out that her parents are splitting up and that her dad will be moving out of their home. Clémence is very confused and upset but has sort of gotten used to the news.

Clémence and her mother then make the trip back out to the cottage because it has sold and once again, Lou has gone into the forest to find his friend, the white cat. When it’s time to go, Clémence, is unable to find Lou and makes an impulse decision to run into the forest to find her feline friend.

As Clémence runs to find Lou, she is then chased by a wild hog. Clémence trips and falls and, before she knows it, the wild hog is shot by Madeline. Madeline is upset because she did not want to have to shoot the hog, but she felt she had no other choice. Clémence is forced to leave the forest and return back to her home with her best friend.

Will Clémence be able to find Lou and take him back home with her? Will Clémence make the choice to let Lou run free in the wild?

A CAT’S LIFE is a very positive, child-friendly, sweet movie. The movie has many themes about putting family first and leaning on others in hard times. A CAT’S LIFE also discusses the importance of making the right choices and never judging a book by its cover, as Clémence judged Madeline because Madeline talked to her dog.

A CAT’S LIFE has a strong morally uplifting worldview. The movie stresses family and marriage in the viewpoint of what happens to a child when parents split up. Despite what the trial is, however, a good parent’s love for their child is never lost. A CAT’S LIFE also stresses the importance of accepting everyone just as they are because people are often more alike than they realize. It also shows the value of always speaking the truth, no matter the cost .

However, A CAT’S LIFE has several violent scenes where animals fight one another, animals run from other animals in the hopes of not being eaten, and a firearm is used to save a life. Other scenes include parents arguing and a profanity.
