Juggling the MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE reboot with his NASCAR career wasn’t easy, but Frankie Muniz couldn’t be more grateful to do both.

“I would film Sunday through Wednesday, fly Thursday, race Friday and fly back Saturday,” Muniz told Entertainment Weekly.

He stepped away from acting for a time to focus on racing for the Reaume Brothers Racing team in the Craftsman Truck Series. But when the opportunity to film MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR came up, he knew he had to take advantage of it.

“It was exhausting, but I also know how cool it is to have the opportunity to get to do this again, so I wasn’t going to complain at all,” Muniz said. “I am so thankful to everybody on the production for working around my NASCAR schedule.”

He revealed that filming the reboot was the “first time in my career as an actor that I was happy to have the label ‘actor.’ When I was a kid, I just showed up and said the words, and it all worked out. Now, I’m making a plan for going into the scene. Doing the prep makes the process really, really fun.”

Alongside Muniz, MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE: LIFE’S STILL UNFAIR sees Bryan Cranston, Jane Kaczmarek and Christopher Masterson return to the roles they played in the early 2000s sitcom, per Variety.

“Malcolm and his daughter are drawn into the family’s chaos when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party,” a synopsis of the series reads, per IMDB.

The four-part series will stream on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ starting April 10.

Right now, though, Muniz is back to focusing on his racing, sharing on Wednesday that he recently had one of his best races ever.

“Take me back to last Friday night! Hands down one of the most fun races I’ve been a part of. Truth is, I wasn’t looking forward to Darlington for some reason, but now I feel like I have a new favorite track. Finished p18 with a clean truck and it felt really really good. Can’t thank my team enough for putting in the hard work!” Muniz wrote.

“Also can’t thank @tradinglucid enough for coming on board for Daytona and Darlington so last minute. They do fast payouts, I drive fast racecars…Were basically twins. How sick was our throwback paint scheme? Who wants it in a diecast?? Let Lucid Trading know in the comments and maybe we’ll do it!!” he added.

It looks like Muniz embraces his passions with gratitude and determination, proving his dedication both on the track and on set.
