Social media influencer Nara Smith has revealed her daughter Whimsy, 2, has been diagnosed with cancer.

“When we saw something suspicious on her, we took her to the ER and they didn’t quite know what to make of it,” Smith shared in an Instagram video. “When we took her into our pediatrician, I just remember him going really quiet and calm…My heart dropped in that moment. I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”

She continued, “After a lot of X-rays, ultrasounds and finally a biopsy, they immediately called us and said that she had cancer, told us it had spread and that she needs to come and start chemo treatments immediately.”

Smith did not disclose what type of cancer her daughter has been diagnosed with.

The cookbook author said “processing this and navigating all of this as a family has been really hard,” which is why she’s been “posting a little less.”

“Having found all of this out and navigating this while postpartum, also loving and caring for our other kids at home, also being in the hospital with Whimsy a lot and balancing work on top of that has been really challenging,” she said.

Smith concluded, “Some days are a little easier, some days are really hard, and all I can do is try my best and show up in all those areas in the best way that I can.”

Smith and husband Lucky Blue Smith are also parents to daughter Rumble Honey, 5, son Slim Easy, 4, and daughter Fawnie Golden, who was born in September of 2025.

The social media star often speaks about her love of being a mother. In an Instagram post celebrating Whimsy’s first birthday, Smith wrote, “Being a mom is the most magical, hardest and rewarding thing I’ll ever get to do and I couldn’t be more grateful for it.”

In a TikTok video, the 24 year-old explained her decision to become a mom so early on in her marriage.

“I’ve always wanted to be a young mom because growing up my dad would always tell us that he regrets having kids later in life,” Smith said. “So I took that advice and it’s one of the best decisions I could have made, [but] I know it’s not for everyone.”

Please keep the Smith family in your prayers as they navigate this time.
