LANDMAN star Ali Larter and her husband Hayes MacArthur don’t regret moving to Idaho during COVID.

“We love to barbecue at our house. We love to play with our dogs. My daughter will probably play some volleyball. We’ll go to Leroy’s and get an ice cream cone,” the mom of two told Fox News.

The actress says the summer days are sunny and simple.

“It’s just kind of simpler, and the days are really long. The sun’s out till like 10 at night now, so it’s been really beautiful to kind of have the kids out of school and enjoy the time with them,” she said.

The couple visited Idaho for two months while schools were on lockdown in LA. They ended up just staying.

“We were able to put our 6-year-old daughter in kindergarten for the spring semester,” Larter recalled. “And that was a huge thing for us because we just wanted her to be around other children and have that kindergarten experience. And during that time, we met some amazing families just organically by the school.”

“And living in the town and just skiing with our children. And we really spent a tremendous amount of time together as a family,” she said.

Their life in LA required her and her husband to not only audition all the time but attend lots of parties and events, which took away from family time.

“We just didn’t want to do that. We wanna be with our children,” she said. “And, so, that’s when I think the biggest change was we came back after that summer, and we just made a go for it and said, ‘Let’s try this and see if it works.'”

Larter will often hike in the mountains near her home or go on bike rides with her children.

Larter plays Angela in Taylor Sheridan’s LANDMAN series. While she wants to be part of the story, she doesn’t fully embrace her character and how she is portrayed — she hates wearing bikinis on set.

“Those are the hardest for me,” she said. “I don’t enjoy them. It’s just part of the story that I’m telling, and I’m an actress, so I get on board. But those are definitely my least favorite.”

The actress turned 50 in February, which she looked forward to.

“The most beautiful you’re ever going to be is today and to embrace that, to embrace it, to be kind to yourself,” Larter said in February. “I think that women, in my industry and in the world and the way that we’re seen and spoken about, it’s just it’s so critical.”

“We just need to be kinder to ourselves and also, like I’m someone who, I don’t want to look 20 years younger, 10 years younger. I want to be the best version of me right now,” she said.

She reflected on older women who she knows — they have great lives, and she wants to be like them.

“They’re taking care of themselves…I hold myself to such a high regard in the way that I want to walk through this world, and a lot of that starts with wellness. The beauty of aging is just being kinder to yourself,” she said.

LANDMAN Season 2 just wrapped up in January, and Season 3 is expected to premiere early next year.
