WONDER YEARS star Danica McKellar shared her thoughts on “the key to forgiveness.”
“How do you forgive somebody?” she asked in a recent Instagram video. “We know we’re supposed to. We know that holding on to anger and resentment is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. We know it’s important. We also know it’s important because it’s in the Lord’s prayer. We’re asking God for all these things, and the one thing we say we’re going to do in response is to forgive those who trespass against us, right? Jesus said, ‘Love your enemies.’”
McKellar continued, “How do we forgive people when they’ve done something really bad? I don’t think forgiveness is bringing a person back into your life, necessarily — it might be toxic, it might be bad news — but maybe forgiveness is as simple as truly praying for them, wishing them well. Even if you don’t pray, truly wishing joy and love for them.”
“I think that’s the key to forgiveness, and that’s the kind of forgiveness that frees up our soul while we go on with our lives,” she shared.

The actress often speaks about her faith; in a conversation with The Christian Post earlier this year, McKellar said, “My faith journey is relatively new, only three-and-a-half years old…God is saying, ‘Hey, all these new discoveries you’re making in our new relationship — let’s use those in your movies. Let’s spread the word. Let’s use those on your social media. Use these things to help make the world a better place.’ And I’m listening to Him for guidance on the specific ways to do that.”
“What I discovered is trusting God doesn’t mean that you don’t still work hard and do all the things and plan,” she continued. “But it’s trusting God and not worrying about all those details that you’ve planned.”
McKellar’s faith influences everything in her life, including parenting her son Draco, 14.
“Faith guides everything, including parenting,” she told Fox News. “For me, my faith journey has led me to the most comforting place of knowing that I can consult with God at any time.”
McKellar added, “Knowing it’s in God’s hands means that even when things happen that I don’t think I want to have happen, I can say, ‘Well, let me just be curious about this. I wonder what the big plan is that I can’t see.’”
McKellar’s words about forgiveness are a reminder that love will always be more powerful than hate.
