THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE is heading to Peacock after a massive theatrical run that kept Nintendo’s biggest screen franchise near the center of family entertainment.
“Illumination, Nintendo, and Universal’s THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE will begin streaming on Peacock on July 30, 2026,” SuperHeroHype reported.
The Chris Pratt-led sequel opened in theaters on April 1, 2026, and continued the momentum started by 2023’s THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE. SuperHeroHype reported that the new installment passed $1 billion worldwide against a $110 million budget, making it the second-highest-grossing video-game movie ever behind its predecessor.
The outlet also reported that the two Mario movies have earned more than $2 billion combined at the global box office. For studios, that number confirms that video-game adaptations can pull in families when the brand is familiar, colorful and easy for multiple generations to enjoy together.
The official synopsis says the sequel follows Mario and Luigi as they solve everyday problems in the Mushroom Kingdom, meet Yoshi, try to reform a miniaturized Bowser and prepare for Peach’s birthday party. A call for help then sends the crew across the galaxy, where they encounter Rosalina, Bowser Jr. and other familiar Nintendo characters.

Peacock will also stream bonus material tied to the movie. The extras include NEXT LEVEL: MAKING THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE, CAST OF CHARACTERS, EXPLORING THE GALAXY, GALACTIC THEMATICS, COSMIC TUNES, POWER-UPS, SECRETS OF THE GALAXY and a SEEN ON THE SCREEN podcast episode with Brie Larson.
The voice cast brings back Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. New cast members include Larson, Donald Glover, Glen Powell and Benny Safdie.
SuperHeroHype noted that critics remained mixed while audiences responded warmly, citing an 88% Popcornmeter score on Rotten Tomatoes. That split is not unusual for family franchises that care more about playful momentum, recognizable characters and repeat-viewing energy than critical prestige.
Movieguide® previously praised THE SUPER MARIO BROS. MOVIE as “delightfully entertaining,” while also noting its clear Good versus Evil story, strong family themes and light action content. The new movie’s streaming debut gives families another chance to weigh the franchise’s appeal inside the home, where repeat viewing can shape children’s imaginations long after a theater trip ends.
The Mario franchise works because it keeps its stakes simple. Brothers protect each other, friends join the quest, courage matters and villains can be resisted without turning the story grim.
That does not mean parents should treat every bright animated hit as automatically worthwhile. Families still need to watch with discernment, especially when humor, action and merchandising all push young viewers to want more.
Peacock’s July 30 date will make that choice easier for subscribers who skipped the theatrical release or want to revisit the adventure at home. For families looking for a colorful summer option, THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE arrives with box-office muscle, familiar heroes and plenty of conversation starters about courage, loyalty and what children learn from the stories they replay.
