RAMBO: LAST BLOOD

What You Need To Know:

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD opens in Arizona, where John Rambo is tending his estranged family’s ranch with his beloved niece, Gabriela, and her paternal grandmother, Maria. Gabriela is about to start college. Her mother died of cancer years ago after her Mexican father abandoned the family. Gabriela wants to go to Mexico and ask her father why he abandoned her. John and Maria strongly advise Gabriela not to go, because her father is a bad man. Gabriela at first acquiesces but ends up going anyway. In Mexico, a local sex trafficking ring kidnaps her, and John goes there to try to save her.

The plot to RAMBO: LAST BLOOD eventually devolves into a simple revenge tale. The RAMBO sequels have always been a little sparse, but the new movie seems to suffer the most in this regard. Also, much of the violence in LAST BLOOD is grisly and extreme, with heads being pierced or crushed and body parts severed or impaled. Finally, there are about 20 “f” words. The violence in RAMBO: LAST BLOOD is excessive, and its revenge theme is immoral and unacceptable.

Lots of extreme, grisly and strong violence includes man beaten up by a gang, villain cuts a “V” into man’s check and a college-age female’s cheek (these events are obscured by the camera so they are implied more than shown), villain’s head is pierced by a booby trap, a few villains shot in the head, villain has his leg cut off, villain’s headless corpse is discovered on his bed and hero is shown tossing the guy’s head out the window of his truck as he drives, villain pierced by four arrows, a couple villains are blown up by an explosion, villain stabbed in the neck with a knife, some gunfights during the movie’s bloody climax, wounded villain’s heart is cut out of his body whole he lives, man stabs villain in leg and tortures him to get him to talk by hurting one of leg bones, villains fall into small pit with sharp spikes sticking out, images of bloody corpses of villains killed by the title character, and man threatens life of a girl who helped some sex traffickers kidnap her friend

No depicted sex, but the villains are part of a Mexican drug cartel

RAMBO: LAST BLOOD is a violent thriller about the Vietnam veteran John Rambo traveling to Mexico to rescue his beloved college-age niece, Gabriela, from sex traffickers. RAMBO: LAST BLOOD is an ultraviolent revenge thriller with lots of strong foul language and many grisly scenes of violence as Rambo takes out his revenge on the sex traffickers and their wicked leader.

The movie, which was shot in Portugal, opens in Arizona, where John Rambo is tending his estranged family’s ranch with his beloved niece, Gabriela, and her paternal grandmother, Maria. Gabriela is about to start college. Her mother died of cancer years ago after her Mexican father abandoned the family.

Gabriela tells John that a Mexican girl she grew up with has informed Gabriela she’s located Gabriela’s father. Gabriela wants to go to Mexico and ask her father why he abandoned her. John and Maria strongly advise Gabriela not to go, because her father and the girl are bad people. Gabriela agrees to their wishes, but ends up going anyway.

While in Mexico, however, Gabriela’s father still doesn’t want anything to do with her. To make matters much worse, the Mexican girl leads Gabriela into the hands of a local drug cartel run by two ruthless brothers who also traffic in sex slaves.

When Gabriela doesn’t return home, John finds the Mexican girl and the father’s addresses and sets out in search of Gabriela. After finding out about the sex traffickers, John runs into more problems that tax his combat, survival and guerrilla warfare skills more than ever before.
