Giavanni Cairo explained what playing Thaddeus on THE CHOSEN teaches him about how God cares for everyone, even though Thaddeus is a lesser known disciple that is hardly mentioned in the gospels.

“Thaddeus is only mentioned a handful of times in scripture and you can say that at times he’s overlooked. I’ve felt that before in my life. When we filmed Thaddeus’ backstory with Jesus in Season 5, it’s a moment I will never forget,” Cairo said. “I won’t spoil it for those who haven’t seen it, but essentially, Jesus makes it known to Thaddeus that he (the one who is often overlooked) has a lot to offer this world. He’s seen. Thaddeus wasn’t the only one Jesus was talking to. He was talking to me. He was talking to you.”

In many ways, Thaddeus represents our daily actions that go unseen by everyone apart from the Lord. He is a reminder that nothing – whether sinful or holy – goes unnoticed by God. Cairo recognizes his character embodies this message as well and recently partnered with devotional app Glorify to share this with the masses.

“Lately, I’ve been reflecting on the kind of faith no one sees. The quiet prayers we whisper in solitude. The obedience no one applauds. The moments you stay, even when heaven feels silent. That’s the kind of faith Jude Thaddeus had. And it’s the heart of my new devotional series!” Cairo said in October, discussing his partnership with the app.

Cairo’s devotional on the app is part of a three part series that Glorify is running in partnership with THE CHOSEN.

“In the highs, lows, and every space in between, we want to be like a trusted friend that points you back to Jesus. Because friends don’t leave you to ‘just figure it out’ when it comes to your faith — they lean in close and say, ‘Let’s walk through this together.’ So whether you’re going through a hard time and need a reminder of God’s promises, or maybe you’re experiencing an answered prayer and need a space to celebrate — Glorify is here through it all,” Glorify’s description reads.

Along with Cairo, Lara Silver hosted a devotion and the third installment is set to release in January. It is amazing just how many doors THE CHOSEN has opened for its actors while also helping fans find resources to dive deeper into their faith and strengthen their relationship with the Lord.
