Decades after THE SANDLOT released, cast members are reuniting for a special new project, a nostalgic moment for fans who still love the movie.

Titled DUGOUT DADS, the new comedy series will star Patrick Renna.

“In DUGOUT DADS, when an idealistic dad (Renna) volunteers to coach his kids’ Little League team, he discovers that the most unruly players on the field aren’t the 10-year-olds…they’re the other coaches, parents, and sometimes himself,” a synopsis reads. “Throughout the season, Coach Patrick finds himself constantly at odds with his own advice to the kids: baseball is supposed to be FUN.”

Other confirmed cast members include Danielle Fishel, Tom Guiry, Chauncey Leopardi, Marty York, Shane Obedzinski, Grant Gelt, Brandon Quintin Adams, Victor DiMattia and Will Horneff.

Deadline noted that the characters are all original, not related to THE SANDLOT.

“After years of coaching Little League, I’ve witnessed some truly epic meltdowns on the field, and it’s always the adults (I’d be lying if I said it was never me). I just knew those experiences had to become a show,” Renna said of DUGOUT DADS.

He added, “What makes it even more special is that it’s bringing me back together with the cast of THE SANDLOT, guys I’ve shared a unique bond and brotherhood with for more than 30 years. It feels like a story I was meant to tell, with exactly the right people to tell it with.”

The new series will be produced by Renna’s Hambino Media.

Renna celebrated the project on Instagram, writing, “The gang’s back together again 😘” alongside Deadline’s announcement.

Fans are thrilled.

“This makes me SO happy😍😍😍” one person said. Another added, “Let’s play ball! ⚾️”

About a week before the announcement, Renna made a nostalgic post, hinting at the new project.

The caption simply read, “We should probably do a show together 😏” as the accompanying video shows THE SANDLOT cast then and now.

Movieguide®’s +1 review of THE SANDLOT reads, “Commendably, the film contains little objectionable save some mild (regrettably) obscenities and a couple of exclamatory profanities. Not wanting to divulge any further information about this delightful film, suffice to say that THE SANDLOT is good, wholesome family entertainment and will cause its viewers to laugh and to rejoice as they leave the theatre wishing that more just plain good movies would come along.”

A release date for the new DUGOUT DADS has not been announced, but it is expected to come out later this year.  Sebastian Jones and Dan Kopelman are writing. Victor Nelli Jr. serves as director, while Victoria Fradkin produces alongside Renna and Kyle Howard.
