A QUIET PLACE star Emily Blunt reflected on her experience as a mom to two girls — a relationship that’s transformed her life in the best of ways.
“You do go through this complete awakening when you have kids, and I know any parent will attest,” Blunt explained. “And the challenge of it, the beauty of it, that sort of reclamation of maybe who you really are, and how I don’t think anybody sees you as purely as your children do or bring you back to earth like they do. So I find that like the most kaleidoscopic experience of my life.”
Blunt makes a concentrated effort to let her children know she’s there for them.
“Every day I’m trying to teach them that I am as interested in their fears as I am in their triumphs as I am in their failings that they feel they had that day,” she told E! News. “I’m just curious about everything to do with them. They never need to amplify anything or soft lay anything.”
For Blunt, empathy goes a long way.
“I just want them to feel they can always come to me,” she added, “and it’s just the softest place to land. And then they can pass that off onto those around them. Kindness reigns supreme.”

“I encourage empathy in my kids and embracing differences and not being scared of them, or teasing people for them, you know? Making mistakes, or feeling like you have something that causes you to make mistakes, is a good thing. It’s how you learn, and it’s how you grow,” she said in a 2020 interview.
Blunt and her actor husband, John Krasinski, try to keep their children with them wherever they go. The couple share daughters Hazel and Violet.
“We shot all of this in New York, A QUIET PLACE is in New York, and JACK RYAN was over in London,” Krasinski said in another video. “They came over in London with us. It’s a circus! It’s a family circus!”
Blunt said, “There are cornerstones of the girls’ day that I don’t want to compromise on – like, ‘Will you wake me up, take me to school, pick me up and put me to bed?’ And I just want to be able to say, ‘Yes, yes, yes.’ It’s such an exhale for me to be able to do that,’” she said.
She and Krasinski are both very present for their children.
She said, “I’m so lucky with John. But I was colossally unprepared for how life-changing it is. Like all mothers, I think, ‘What was I doing with my day before I had children?’ It’s so full-on and they need you so much; I do find myself in a perpetual state of distraction.”
As Blunt and Krasinski are both A-list actors, it’s great to know that they make it a priority to be highly involved in their children’s lives.
