Christian country artist Anne Wilson recently gave a sweet tribute to her older brother, Jacob, who died on June 7, 2017.

“I miss you so much. Nine years without you is hard to comprehend. It feels like a lifetime, yet somehow it also feels like just a moment since I last saw you,” she began a letter to Jacob in an Instagram post that showed her as a toddler sitting on his shoulders.

She thanked Jacob for the legacy he left and reflected on his joyful presence.

“I miss your laugh. I miss your hugs. I miss your lectures and the talks you’d give me,” Wilson said. “I miss everything about you.”

She continued, “I long to be with you again. Life here is not the same without you, but I live each day with my eyes fixed on Heaven knowing I’ll see you again. Until then, I’ll keep telling the world about Jesus — and about you. 🤍”

Last year on June 7, Wilson shared, “It’s so strange to think I’ve lived longer than my brother did. But my hope is in Heaven knowing that He lives in eternity with the King of Kings and the Savior of the world, and that one day I will get to join him. I’m so thankful for the way God has used this tragedy and brought so much beauty out of it.”

She told Crosswalk Headlines that she wanted to be an astronaut when she was younger, but God changed her plans when her brother unexpectedly passed. When she sang at his funeral, she knew that God called her to use her voice for Him.

She recalled of Jacob’s death, “It was such a dark moment in my life. I remember feeling so hopeless and devastated and broken. I was so incredibly overwhelmed with emotions that I literally couldn’t even cry.”

But then God spoke to her.

He said, “‘Anne, are you going to trust Me?’ I turned around right in that room, and I spoke to Jesus, and I said, ‘Jesus, I trust You,’” she said. “And then God spoke again and said, ‘I’m going to give you what you need to push through this tragedy.’”

“All of a sudden, the weight of death was lifted fully off my shoulders, and I felt like I could breathe. I had this assurance that God was going to pull me through this tragedy to the other side,” she said.

Wilson is currently on her The STARS Tour across the US until Nov. 13.
