AMC Theaters is celebrating their August 20 reopening date by selling tickets for 15 cents a movie.

The low price is to honor the first theater location in Kansas City in 1920, where it cost only 15 cents to take a seat in front of the big screen.

Deadline reports, “One-hundred years later, as AMC reopens its doors to U.S. moviegoers for the first time in more than five months, AMC is celebrating its history with a throwback to the year it all started by offering Movies in 2020 at 1920 Prices.”

AMC plans to open around 100 theaters on Aug. 20.

In the following two weeks, 300 more of their theaters are set to open their doors around the country for the release of Disney’s THE NEW MUTANTS on Aug. 28 and the Labor Day weekend release of Warner Bros. TENET.

After that, the remaining theaters will open when state and local officials allow them to go back to business, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The theaters will operate using with social distancing guidelines in place, and AMC’s Safe & Clean protocols will be “stringently enforced” at all locations.
