Tom Cruise stopped by the set of NCIS: ORIGINS to say hi to the cast, and while he is not joining the show, fans were thrilled to see him there.

“As we kick off a new season of ORIGINS, it was awesome to have @tomcruise stop by yesterday to hang out and show so much support to our show and the entire @ncisverse. @ginalucita and I took inspo from the bar in TOP GUN when we dreamt up our bar, Daly’s. So we were stoked he approved lol. Thanks for all the advice and love, Tom,” NCIS: ORIGINS writer David J. North wrote on an Instagram post where he posed with Cruise.

“Gibbs & Hunt, NCIS: Impossible,” Austin Stowell, who plays a young Gibbs on the show, wrote on his own Instagram post, alluding to Cruise’s MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE character Ethan Hunt.

While it is unclear exactly why Cruise stopped by the set of the show, he has many reasons to be on Paramount’s studio lots as he has a longstanding partnership with the studio. He is currently working on a third movie in the TOP GUN franchise, which may have well been the business he was there for on that day.

“It will be Tom Cruise [leading the cast],” producer Jerry Bruckheimer said about the third movie in the franchise. “Tom is amazing. We spent time with him. We have a story. Joe Kosinski had a wonderful story idea for it, and [Tom] said, ‘I really like that,’ so we’re developing it.”

Despite many of his most iconic movies coming from Paramount, at the beginning of the year Cruise signed a non-exclusive multi-movie deal with Warner Bros. to help them develop original movies and franchises.

“We are thrilled to be working with Tom, an absolute legend in the film industry. Our vision, from day one, has been to rebuild this iconic studio to the heights of its glory days, and, in fact, when we first sat down with [Warner Bros. Discovery chief] David Zaslav to talk about joining the Warner Bros. Discovery team, he said to us, ‘We are on a mission to bring Warner Bros. back – we have the best resources, storytelling IP, and talent in the business – and we need to bring Tom Cruise back to Warner Bros!’” said Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group. “Today, that becomes a reality and we are one step closer to achieving our ambition. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Tom back to Warner Bros. and look forward to bringing more of his genius to life on screen in the years ahead.”

As Cruise continues to carve out his legacy in the movie industry, it is fun to see just how loved he is by other stars, as the entire cast and crew of NCIS: ORIGINS were thrilled to have him on set.
