Bruce Willis is ‘Stable’ Amid Dementia Fight, Daughter Reveals

By Movieguide® Contributor

Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter Tallulah Willis opened up on the TODAY show about her dad’s battle with frontotemporal dementia.

“He’s doing stable, which, in this situation, is good and it’s hard,” Tallulah said. “There’s painful days. But there is so much love. And it’s really shown me not to take any moment for granted. And I really do think that we’d be best friends. I think he’s very proud of me.”

In a Vogue article she wrote last year, she revealed that Willis “still knows who I am and lights up when I enter the room.”

“He may always know who I am, give or take the occasional bad day. One difference between FTD and Alzheimer’s dementia is that, at least early in the disease, the former is characterized by language and motor deficits, while the latter features more memory loss,” she added. “I keep flipping between the present and the past when I talk about Bruce: he is, he was, he is, he was. That’s because I have hopes for my father that I’m so reluctant to let go of.”

“I’ve always recognized elements of his personality in me, and I just know that we’d be such good friends if only there were more time,” she added.

Tallulah and the rest of Willis’ family are grateful for the time they have with their dad.

“Our visits have so much love and I feel that,” she said last month, “and that overarches anything for me — being able to have that connection.”

“I know he knows how much I love him,” she continued. “I know how much he loves me. I know how much he loves all of us.”

Movieguide® recently reported on Bruce Willis’ condition:

“Given the givens, he’s in a stable place,” Moore said.

When asked about what it’s like for the kids to see their father struggle, Moore said she tells them one thing.

“What I say to my kids is you meet them where they’re at. You don’t hold on to who they were or what you want them to be, but who they are in this moment,” she explained. “And from that, there is such beauty and joy and loving and sweetness.”

“When I’m in LA, I go over every week, and I really treasure the time that we all share,” she added.
