Fox News Host Lawrence Jones ‘Proud to be a Believer’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Fox News Host Lawrence Jones explained why he’s proud to be a Christian and how he incorporates his faith into his work.
“I come from generations of pastors,” Jones told CBN News. “My mom’s a preacher, grandparents are, so the Gospel at large–knowing who Christ is and accepting [Him] into my heart…that’s all I know.”
While his faith has always been important to him, Jones has become especially thankful for a foundation in Christ since attending college and beginning his career in news.
“You start getting tested,” he said. “For me, the faith walk became real when life became real, and when you’re alone and you don’t have that support system being with you every single day.”
Realizing how important his faith has been, Jones now shares the Gospel whenever possible. While working at Fox, he helped organize events, such as the FAITH & FRIENDS CONCERT SERIES, which brings worship to millions across the country.
“I don’t find it a struggle to hold on to who God has called me to be and be that person,” he said, noting that he’s “proud to be a believer. We’ve had people from our audience – messages about them crying on Sunday morning, people that haven’t been to church in a while, but we’re bringing church to them in their living room.”
Jones has also been open about his own struggles, fighting the perception that Christians cannot be anything less than perfect. Rather, he uses his struggles to point toward Christ.
“Part of the Gospel itself is understanding that Christ paid it all because I’m imperfect,” he said. “And anytime that we try to project ourselves as these perfect beings, I think we take His glory away, because… if we have it all together, then He wouldn’t need to pay it all on the cross for our sins.”
Jones released a book last October that combats the idea of toxic masculinity.
“
“The book was written to appreciate femininity as well as masculine men,” Jones explained. “I interviewed people that I respected that are strong men, that are strong fathers. And I hope this is a guide, not only for young men, but for young women that are looking for husbands and what they hope… their sons would achieve as well. So, we talk about a lot of things in the book, and I just hope it’s some sort of a guide.”
Movieguide® previously reported on Jones:
In light of the impending U.S. Supreme Court rulings on abortion-related cases, Fox News host Lawrence Jones recently went on air to ask his mother, Tameria, why she chose to have him.
“When you were 16, and you decided to give up basketball and all the fun, why did you choose to have me?” Jones asked.
His mother answered: “I was taught at a young age about sex and what happened if you had sex unprotected, but it happened. … I knew that I had a responsibility. It was my responsibility. It wasn’t my mom, my grandparents. I knew that I had to step up to the plate, and that caused me to let sports go, and I became a mommy.”
