New Trailer Drops for the Much Anticipated Sequel to SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE
By Movieguide® Contributor
Miles Morales fans all over the world celebrated the trailer release of SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE (PART ONE).
The trailer showed just a few scenes, but fans were excited to see that Spider-Gwen, voiced by Hailee Steinfeld, would be back for the second installment. They were also excited by the title. The internet quickly lit up with theories about what Part 2 might have in store for us!
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, returning writers and producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller said, “Miles’ story is an epic. We wrote what we thought the story needed to be, and to our surprise we realized it was two movies instead of one. We’re working on them both as we speak. Part Two will be out sometime in 2023. We will sleep again in 2024.”
The movie will see Miles facing off against Miguel O’Hara a.k.a. Spider-Man 2099, who is voiced by Oscar Isaac. It’s still unknown whether any of the other spider-people will show up in the next movie, but fans are holding out hope for appearances from Peni Parker (voiced by Kimiko Glenn), Spider-Man Noir (voiced by Nicolas Cage), or Spider-Ham (voiced by John Mulaney).
The movie is a sequel to SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, which was chosen as one of MovieGuide’s 10 Best Movies For Families in 2018.
The Movieguide® review says: “SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is a terrific, enjoyable animated adventure with clever, funny writing. The story’s energy seldom stalls. The movie has lots of cartoon action violence and some light slapstick violence. Some of the action violence is intense, so caution is advised for children. Otherwise, the movie is family-friendly. SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE has an uplifting Christian, moral worldview. Its redemptive pro-family themes extol love, sacrifice, forgiveness, doing the right thing, saving others, and getting a second chance.”
